Incoming scans clarification
"Note: Total Ships is an accurate count of the incoming ships INCLUDING cloaked ships, but the scan itself does not show cloaked ships."
This is somewhat confusing. It would be better to include a row saying "Cloaked ships: 140000".

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

Re: Incoming scans clarification
"Note: Total Ships includes the cloaked ships the scan does not show."
That would be enough. I hope the players can do the maths, i don't see why the scan should do it for them.

Re: Incoming scans clarification
No, that would be exactly the same as it is now. You should show what is there, so that people can see in the blink of an eye what is there and what isn't. Let me give an example:
Shipone 119458
Shiptwo 44884
Shipthree 1448
Total: 185790
On this scan, it's not immediately obvious to me that there are 20k cloaked ships in there. Sure, I can grab a calculator and figure it out, but why force me to go through all that trouble when it's so easy to just tell me what is there?
Shipone 119458
Shiptwo 44884
Shipthree 1448
Cloaked ships 20000
Total: 185790

because that's what cloaked ships are supposed to do. Making you count twice to make sure there's no hidden ships in a fleet.
Lazy or careless people are punished.

Re: Incoming scans clarification
Interfaces should always be clear. The argument you're making is fairly idiotic.

That benefits no-one, not the defender, nor the attacker with the cloaked ships: all that is likely to come of it is the defender makes a catastrophic error and fights a battle he shouldnt and loses his fleet. This kind of pwning may be fun to the attacker but it has to be set against the equal chance the defender choses to stand in a bloody defence when he might not had he computed the real figures.

Actually the scan is designed to show you the number of cloaked ships, so it only makes sense to also show it in a proper way. If you want less obvious information then it should be done properly by game design and not by loosy attempts of user-interfaces.

If that was the intent then it's a clear failure I agree, I thought the scan was just giving you an opportunity to spot the cloaked (with a little effort). Visible cloaked ships is a concept i'm not very fond of...

Re: Incoming scans clarification
while i do agree with the clear interface side of this argument, there are many people now just doing !eff or !stop in order to send defence and that is not always accurate when multiple ships are involved. this in turn causes waves to go uncovered and people to lose things when they really shouldn't. if people are not properly using the in game bcalc already, this change won't improve on that, it'll only make it worse. with that in mind, the easiest way to spot cloaked ships is to "add to bcalc" and read off the total ships number and see if it matches the incoming scan.
