Gals
Are alliances hoping/telling members to go random for the purpose to get more gals tagged later on? Or is that only a pain to have more (spread out) Gals/members to defend?
(Regardless if they offer defense to the whole gal or just the alliance member)

No. Having members more spread out is much better defence wise but everyone wants to be in with their friends, who are usually in their alliance.
In theory, an alliance ordering it's members to go random would be good for them, but in practice, with the small amount of random gals there looks likely to be, there wouldn't be much of a spread anyway, and they would just suffer.

I don't think there are a lot of gals in the alliances. Planetarion is a mainly male dominated game.

Answer to initial thread question:
No, most serious alliances won't.
Yes, maybe some newbee/fun alliances will.
Satisfied?

Whatever reason you may have to go or sent your members into random galaxies....
To tag more gals is really stupid.
As to teh question. I can't think of an alliance to send their members random, unless they are deperate in a way.

I don't think its so much the will of the Alliance (hey, if it were up to me, I'd tell my members to go random). Private galaxies are 'available' so the majority of the players want to go the private way (for whatever reason, security/friends etc), so they would want to do that, regardless what their alliance tells them.

Example : 20 gals with mixed alliance members in = xxxxxxx score
Or those 20 together with 20 more gals with only one alliance member in will give you 2*xxxxxxx score, would that be a bad thing?

You are using wrong maths.
Its all about top galaxies. Going random decreases the chance of having a top galaxy.
Having 50 gals tagged all ranked 250+ will make your alliance look more like losers then having 5 in top 25.

Well… You make the choice to tag up all the Gals or just a few (have been done before).
And its more easy to hit 10 hostile gals then 20, right?
This whole setup I’m talking about only gives you/us one more tactic to use if necessary, and in bad or good times all “cards” can come in handy…..

it's harder to hit 10 organised priv gals than 20 random gals. obviously.

not really, seing in each private galaxy the members know each other and know how to contact each other... and i doubt there will be the same kind of contact in a random gal.. i know that in the priv gals i've been in i've been able to wake up all my gal members within 30mins and getting them online, last round in a random gal i barely managed to get up 1 person each time we got attacked..
so the question is, which is best: 10ppl in 10 gals online to sort out their defence with their allies/friends or 1-2 ppl in 20gals online to sort it?
private gals are harder to attack, more fun to be in

I think people are missing the most obvious reason as to why major alliances don't 'go random'. By going random, alliances - possibly rivals - have a medium/high chance of sharing galaxies.
Not just would this make the game difficult for those particular players - bot would ruin it for the others around them. What are they supposed to do as the galaxy is constantly invaded in daily raids?

Wrong. People don't go random, because private galaxies are almost guaranteed stronger. And easier to control.

jester. you're wrong here. believe me on that. there are still quite a lot people that decide to go random, even when they realise priv gals will be 0wning them.

I think you misread my post. Mentally remove the grammatically correct comma between 'random' and 'because' and you'll see that I was just replying to Paine's misrepresentation of 'why' the people that do not go random choose private galaxies.

put the reasons together that has been given here and you should have your answer. Funny that noone have been able to tell that in just 1 post heh.
And Scouce, ofc. it will not be good for the alliances to have ppl in random gals. Why do you think it would be good for the alliances in teory to have their ppl in random gals?

Parra already explained in detail why it would perhaps be the case. Although, like I said above, it's good in theory but probably wouldn't work in practice.
