10 Private, rest Random, Cos full private suck cos u jsut have gal wars, i hate when one gal gets ****ed per night its better having slightly random too, also means people who have never played this game have no chance cos they are left with other new players against Farmers such as Ex-LDK players and Ex-Fury + Titans

while there is nothing new r9 i would only be fair if its free and allow new players to get pa known ...

in r10 with more players and new thingies it could be p2p.

10 priv, 5 random (mandatory not optional ), and FREE !

Private isnt for cowards as was spoken, some of us really enjoy playing in the same galaxy together, like going down the pub and sitting at the same table with your friends.

Alot of people ended up in galaxies last round that were unhelpfull, unfriendly and down right unsociable, the game is no fun on its basic level when that happens.
Why this happened (only my opinion)...
We thought it was the last round , no point in making new friends, the game would be done and dusted.
Trust issues, even in galaxy politics, where people refused to even post, let alone say where to go if they were under attack and needed defence.
Depression, we thought it was last round.
Self centredness, playing for yourself and no-one else, making community spirit with the galaxy non-existant.

Do i want to sit through another round of talking to 3 other people on a regular basis out of a possible 9 others...not really... would you ?

I think that is the only way to get that big universe back which we would all like tio have again. It attracts people and then when the owners want money for it. Some will stick to it cuz of addiction

Universe is getting smaller every round. Not only because of payment but also because of the earlier mentioned newby bashing.

You lost your cluster war then?

Personally I'm glad to see the return of private galaxies, and I think it should be at least 15 per galaxy, 10 is just too few.

As much as I regret reverting to private gals, i think 10 is the desired number of planets.
Moreover i think that 3 planets of those 10 should be random.
Why such a small number & a mixture with random?
1 I expect no more than 4k players will participate, which means only 400 fully filled gals.
2 Combined with 10 gals/cluster u reduce the chance of getting more than 2 gals of the same alliance in a cluster after the shuffle.
3 Randoms means peeps of small alliances get the chance to "move up" if proven active & able.
Constraints:
A Randoms should be shuffled in after tick 36, like r8 :P
B Distribution of randoms should be evenly over the priv gals
C No new accounts between tick 36 and 144

Step 1: 2 groups of 5 private people, making a 10 planet 'private' gal.
Step 2: Force to open, letting in 5 or 10 random players.

/edit; make that letting in 5 randoms, 20 in a gal wouldnt work well with the expected playerbase for next round.

And the only PROPER solution would be to screw private gals, random only is the only way to go.

If we have to have private gals, I like the groups idea.

I suggest 15 in a gal. Therefore, each group is size five.

Before the shuffle, you can either:

create a group,
join an existing group (password),
or join a random group

Random groups are created as needed for random players signing up.

The groups don't see what gal they are in until the shuffle. Only then are three groups joined together to form each galaxy.

Forgot to add: My ideal choice would be full random galaxies, with no options for private ones. Those are much more fun IMO.

Depends if you're talking random or private.

If you're talking about private galaxies (and r9--which will almost certainly be the smallest round yet), then I think 15 is way too large. 10 is probably even pushing it. We're basically down to the 1337 hardcore players now; galaxies of 5-7 players should be sufficient (if you want any chance of catching anyone by surprise).

For a random universe, 15 is an adequate galaxy size--but we're looking at a very small universe. :reindeer:

Randoms would be sorted in such a way that all the p2p randoms would beplaced into private gals 1 at a time till each gal had at least one, then they would be dealt out to all the priv galaxies one at a time like a deck of cards till there were no more priv randoms. Then after all the p2p randoms have be shuffled into priv gals the remaining players would be free accounts that have strictlimitations and the number of free accounts would be limitied to the number of random spots remaining in Priv gals.

The free randoms would have no access to gal status of the ability to vote for the GC. No news scans or mil scans, plus the inability to research ships above frig class. Once they upgrade there account they are able to do as they wish. (assuming races are still in play no speacial pods either ie vultures so this means they would only be able to use the standard frig pod)

Just my thoughts if I was one of the Leet people making this new round
