Medals and Ribbons

A use for the ingame alliance system would be to allow HC to award Medals and Ribbons to their members.
- Ribbons for participation in campaigns (or wars) against enemies
- Medals for various achievements: reaching different levels in score, number of cov ops, amount of scans, intel gathered, or some daring attack, FC...

Here is what we used back in R4 for a long forgotten alliance... It gave each member the occasion to prove himself and kept them all focussed on a goal for themselves even if they were not competing for top spots.

Re: Medals and Ribbons

and the gains of such rank/medal are?
would they get some sort of boost from such, example ingame alliance xp -> score?
and in smaller alliances such boost would be easier to get... so people might be more interested to join them, or success better beeing in one....
each tag would have x amount of medals to give, which would give x amount xp bonus. the medals and xp gets lost if u jump out of the tag.

Re: Medals and Ribbons

I don't think this needs to be coded into the game, HCs can (and do) simply say "person x was fantastic this round, thanks!" in an EoR meet and it would have the same effect. Other things have higher priority.

So he gave them the coy little wave and realized it probably would have been more effective if he hadn't been lying on their turkey.

You're right it's not a priority. Still it works at keeping people playing when the top rankings are too far away for them. Try removing medals and honours from RL and replace them by your nice words...

Re: Medals and Ribbons

I like this idea, probably because I have suggested it before. It would especially be interesting if other players in your ally could see your medals, and if you could carry them over from round to round. Unfortunately this would require some sort of passport system, which never seems to get coded, so oh well. Fun idea though.

Re: Medals and Ribbons

Given Planetarion's limited coding resources, perhaps it would make more sense to enhance the gameplay rather than adding in little features that would do little to add to the game itself.
