Mummy mummy, can I play with the workmen?
Heh, i'm about 250 meters (and 3 road's worth of houses) away from where some muppets are laying cables for speed cameras along the main road near here. Since it's taken them 3 weeks to do half a mile's worth and they've caused me no end of trouble with traffic jams and so on, I'm now having a bit of fun.
One of them was just asking another one where the generator had got to. He's now under the impression he was told it was back in the van, and they're having a big argument over who told him. I love british workmen.
Serves them right for using radios on a public license free wavelength

Causing people inconvenience and potential aggravation is cool.

I feel justified. Thanks to that lot, it routinely takes me the best part of 20 minutes to drive the last half a mile home. Just how long do they need to lay such a small amount of cable?
Yes I know this'll probably hold them up even more but it releives my frustration a little

Re: Mummy mummy, can I play with the workmen?
Well, I doubt they were the ones who decided to lay the cable.
I've got no idea how long it would take them to lay the cable, I'm sure it depends on a multitude of factors like work-load, type of pavement, type of cable, depth, traffic concerns, etc). There could have been problems, delays with parts, who knows.
They're undoubtedly accountable for most of their time to their bosses, so I doubt they're wasting that much time. So basically you're inconvenienced and you thought you'd take it out on relatively innocent parties.
There's a word for people like you : EVIL

Actually...
Do you slack off of your job / college assignments? You're probably not better placed to confer criticism if you are. Besides don't assume because there are always stupidly hardworking people around, although fortunately they are in a small minority.
Anyway, if they're lazy it'll undoubtedly be dealt with.

It could also depend on how much they're getting an hour. Hell, if that were me i'd take as long as possible over it.

In fairness I've never actually seen a hardworking council worker. I think they're a bit of a unicorn to be honest.

I've seen hardworking council workers, but they're just as rare as hard working private sector workers too. To be fair, anyone who works hard is probably shit and stupid.
p.s. People who dig up the road wouldn't be council workers anyway. (well, 90% of cases)
