your feeling about past / current alliances
I don't know if there has been a thread like this in the past but if you people would take some time to think and explain what alliance you choose from round 1 till now which you think was the best in it's community / attacking / organisation / friends or all together.
For me it was xylem as it consisted out of people i really like(d) and there was just like some sort of "band of brothers" feeling.
I think many people "miss" this kind of feeling towards their current alliances or how alliances are setup nowadays .. anyway .. let me know

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
Let's add a rule: you may not mention your own alliance ^^
Having said that, i think I must say ill vote Fury, and then esp. Wrath. They taught me what an alliance is, and how much fun PA can be with alliances.
Zhil, i miss your weird story pastes

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
Xylem was great, yeah
and Šragons r9.5-10.
most of todays alliances consist of alot of people from different places.
Alliances have to "steal" players from other alliances.
The loyalty isn't really there and people defect all over the place.
It doesn't necessarily have to be all bad, I mean you get to know other players and all, but it's not the feeling brotherhood your talking about.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
round 3 blackdeath, round four legion and round 7 FAnG
For me alliances where people sacrifice there own personal growth for the cause are the greatest places to be. Those rounds epitomise that for me, but like everything alliances and its personel are ephemeral. Its a shame, but its the truth.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
you exactly stated my thoughts mens .. where's the loyalty
I think it's pretty poor if you have to "steal" players from other alliances except when it's their own choice ofc. But then again .. why would you start an alliance if you can't get your mates in it ... dilemma

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I dont have been in many alliances, but WolfPack back in round 6/7 was great to be part of that. I made a lot of friends and had a lot of fun.
ofc Heroes was great to be in, back in r10 when we did good, it was SO great. Working together with Šragons was just fantastic.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
Round 4 25th and Round 5 (and maybe even round 6) ToT, those were the times alliances worked as they were meant to be and not as groups of social-life lacking people which need to compensate their lack of acceptance in rl with trying to be dictators or celebs.

in order of round and thus not by preference:
round 3-5 FA
round 7- ... FAnG
those, FOR ME PERSONALLY, were and the other still is the best alliance and community in PA.

I kinda liked verTIGO for the simple thing that they gave me autoinvite and auto ops in their priv chan for no apperant reason. I even think that my alli was "at war" or atleast hostile to them at the time hehe.
G-II was great got that good feeling that everyone was just there to have fun. Now ND is my fav although I'm not playing this round. Don't think there's many other allys that can challange ND on making the game fun. Although we aren't #1 (yet heh)

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I would say that the most fun I had was in a very active BG (heroes in rd10)
Having a group of about 10-15 people, that are all active and work together on attacks is great. We even were active on helping each other when someone was under attack. It was great fun to be in a BG like that, and I wish that alliances could be as tight knit as small BGs.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
kinda agree with playetz,
feeling in xylem and later on lithyn was awesome. none cared bout whot others did, everyone sacrificied stuff for the alliance.
other then lithyn I'd say Šragons. Talking bout the core then, not the masses we had to take in to cope with other growing alliances.

No alliance really made me feel home, prolly cause my friends where always all over the place. As group, RedBull R6 was the best. R6B is the greatest group still around, I love every single one of them...

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
Right, I've given the thread a little prune. Posts that say 'My favorite alliance is <some alliance>' are pretty worthless, as are the 'Titans' and 'FAnG' posts. At least post some semblance of a reason.
These threads show up about once or twice every round, generally hold only nostalgia value, but let's try to keep them somewhat discussion oriented. If not, I'm going to move this to AR, as a bunch of personal endorsements for alliances.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
UiS Unity is Strength, cluster alliance built around my galaxy in round 2 and a couple of very tight nit galaxys from there onwards Very nice place to be with a nice mix of alliances/people involved in it Definately my fav time in pa playing with all them blokes Saying that, there's only 4 of us around anymore :S
As for proper alliance, Eden round 8, we made as much of a go of it as we could, but the players just weren't around to recruit, definately had a brilliant core though and lots of fun to be in
As for skill, probably Cv round 6 when I was heading up things (and we were better than IPC til they promoted all our members and made Cv pants again) or RB r3 just for the sheer amount of wars forest got us involved in.

I think we used to call Lewis about his femeninity and Mel about her masculinity (heh, sideburns ¬_¬).
Enough remenicing.
There's not much that I can say other than LCH has rocked my world since late round five-ish.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
r8 - Minisrty, loved this alliance, we kept a vaguely low profile yet ran like any other large alliance, defence was superb and the spirit there was great fun, felt sorry when i had to leave for....
r4-r9.5 - LCH, were my battlegroup during r8 and then i joined them fully for r9 as a BC, v glad i did as they were great, all my old mates and ofc being part of ToT was a lot of fun, and r9 was also a good round for us )
Ahh the good ol days, but for anyone who cares i finally for sure get internet back in 3 weeks...yay

My personal vote goes to hirr because of the great community and the willingness to do anything to defend our own. I never had more fun online than in hirr, be in during my pa time or after.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
for community and actually nice people, RaH.
for quality - it's hard for me to say. R4 Legion was "ok". I'd have to go for R4 NoS though, i was never a member but i was in CELL for a bit and we worked with them and they certainly knew how to get u roids . Xanadu round 6 also maybe, actually they get my final vote for it above R4 NoS. They were a war machine and probably the best most organised alliance of any round.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
For me MadCowS r6 and again in r8 will always have a special place in my heart because that was an alliance build of friends for friends and with the main goal to have fun and fun was what we had all the time.
After that my true and current home is with Dragons and I think it will always be like that cause in that alliance I have so many kind and sexy friends. Dragons is one of the only alliances I have been in which manages very well to be about having fun and a great time and still kick ass and therefore Dragons is my favorite alliance trough the time.

My favourite alliance was my first, OPA which I joined as a noob at the end of round 3 and stayed with until r7 (I think...) when it kinda died.
Was lots of fun, with noone taking the game too seriously, but did pretty well in r4 and r6 with top-200 gals

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I am always going to be proud of being a Blue Tuba member.
Most of the HC did a disappearing act when Fury and Legion attacked in round 2 and the alliance crumbled apart from a group of people that didn't know what the phrase 'Give Up' meant.
Before the reorganisation I think there were 2 different groups planning to get the alliance back on track and when everyone realised this and got together the different between the 'Old Tuba' and New Tuba was amazing. We may have been beaten in round 2 but the core never gave up and the core is still together and lurking in #bluetubas.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I never really took alliances seriously for R1-R3, filtered in and out of a few, cant even remember the names of many any more. I vaguely recall being in SL for a while, though how that worked i never worked out, as i live in the UK. I also vaguely recall being an ickle person in Fury for a while (may of been R4, i forget), but i think that lasted all of about 2 weeks, where i made about 3 appearances, and left again.
R4 with 25th and p25a were excellent fun. We all had fun, we all got along, and it was around this time that i believe one of our current Love-Story couples got together, Leya and Isambard. Certainly this was when i met them first. To top it off, we kicked arse towards the end of the round.
R5 i was a little lost, didnt really play, so never found myself in an alliance, but i joined IPC in R6. IPC was the first true alliance and community i joined, and though i dont think i had as much fun in the game, i certainly found myself more at home here than ever before.
This was the height of IPC at this time, and i was proud to be the poor bugger who covered the asses of half the HC for weeks, often sending my fleets to them daily before i even asked them if they had incoming!
Though im still proud to call myself a member of IPC, NewDawn has taken me in for the last round or so, and it reminds me of IPC in its hey-day. The organisation is better than i've seen for a while, the members are friendly though a little freaky (Love ya all really!) and its always fun to sit in one of their channels.
As a side note, though i've never officially been a member of the alliance in-game, F-Crew has some of my closest friends in it, due to the many times i have played with some of their core members, and the spirit of those still playing is largely unrivalled.

Hi Maki I always get sentimental when I see such posts, and yes, we did have a great time back then (albeit l9l and brody had like 20 p/l..) fighting t8p, alot of those people I still remember quite clearly. Most are gone, few I stayed in contact with, but those that are left all had 'succes' in this game. Friend based alliances like that are not possible anymore, the hardcore people seem to pedle around between the best allies after what mood they are in and even half of those people that I see on irc are not playing.. I was in Xylem aswell, but to me it all seemed like big ambitions, nothing in it. Ah well, guess the core will always see stuff different and you always experiance alliances different.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I joined G-II in r3 or 4 and had a blast, great ppl, tho not the best on the gameside of it all. Then i was G-II til r6 when i joined NoS, stayed there till r7 when i had to leave for the army, NoS was fun back then, alltho irc chans where so idle i allways wondered if i had pinged out. But the times ppl spoke, it was fun. Then i was away till r9,5, when i joined NewDawn(since they had lots of old G-II members), great community but they didnt focus that hard on the game(pluss i signed up very late and eneded in some high cluster and operated as mostly a scan planet). before r10 i joined back in NoS, where the community had changed very much, chans where flooded with talk, allmost every defencecall was covered(i remember 3 exceptions where i was involved), and we surprised many by finishing where we did. Been NoS since, and will continue to be NoS as long as it's there because of its magnificant community.
To sum up my best experiences alliancewise, i'd have to decide for NoS r10 - 10,5 to be my finest.
and for c/p alliances, Definitly p10dn from r4.

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
k9 and Titans were my favourites. While I was a member of Elysium and Eclipse they had a more 'big alliance' kind of feel that I never really liked. Less bureaucracy , more community is what I'd go for.
I always wanted to join ND but somehow never did

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I think for me it has to be Elysium, the alround nice guys of the alliance world.. had the most amasing time there when i came across from CeLL in the merger back in round 6 or sumthing lol (memory is a bit sketchy lol) i dont think ive ever been in a community like it....and we also kicked some major ass

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I would have to say Madcows, at least for the first while.
As a group Madcows was just to have fun, screw around, m00 :P
And a lot of that carried over into the alliance, unfortunatly, the usual alliance politics started to work their way into it, and it slowly got less and less fun

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
TFD was most fun till R5 orso. RedBull was my home in R6 and still glad i've been part of that.
My best friends were all over the place after R6 so after that round i never felt really home in an alliance. My new homes were KniV from the core of KniV R6B was formed lateron, nowadays my real home is with R6B

Re: your feeling about past / current alliances
I would have to say that Titans *was* one of the most interesting alliances I've been in. Mostly because it was the first time I joined an alliance whilst also possessing a semblance of a clue about how the game worked. (I joined legion rnd 4 but that's only because I was the only remotely big friendly in petru's parallel that he could get his hands on lol - luv you ben)
the way in which a like minded group of folks, mostly ex legion at the start all pitched in was great. an interesting (and done to bloomin death) discussion would be whether it was all worth it in the end, did the titans hate for doggs beurocratic legion and fomulation of the "we can do this better" spirit have any merit?
well titans lasted longer, and argueably (lets not do it again) took rnd 8. What did legion do after titans left? hung around with the other "winners".
(if in doubt lob in a hand grenade and stand well back)
