Lan WOL connection

Just got myself a Ethernet card for a LAN and i thought it was a case of plug in and go but it seems to have a WOL connector to go somewhere on the motherboard

Do all motherboards ahve one of these? do i need to plug it in? and where would it be???

Next problem is that it seems ok on my XP machine but on my friends his lights are not on on the card and on mine it says

"A network cable is unplugged"

We have set up the IP config and drivers whats the problem?

Having just about forgiven you for your earlier remark...

If Windows reports the card installed (as you have the drivers installed I assume it is) then you (most likely) don't have a crossover cable. Either that or the cable is dodgy.

Umm ok the cable i bought is a

"Fast CAT5e Networking Cable"

Seems it operates at 350Mhz

Does this help you help me?

In the other thread we specifically specified crossover cable. A standard cable (what you appear to have) is meant to run through a hub/switch, not machine to machine. There are a few wires that need to be switched for a direct link, kinda like the old null modem cables. In short, unless you have a crossover cable it won't work.
