Free IRC bouncer courtesty!

SolidRack has started a new service: it offers free IRC bouncers to the
Netgamers.org community as courtesty. This service is available for
everyone who has a registered nickname at the Netgamers IRC Network.

This service is completely free. This service was approved by feds, #planetarion managers and forum admins.

The conditions are simple:
- Max 1 account per user
- Bouncer may only be used on the Netgamers IRC Network
- Bouncer has to be in #webhosting at all times
- You have to follow the rules of #webhosting (no
spamming/swearing/advertising/etc)
- You may not sell an account

To sign up for this service please apply here:
http://www.solidrack.com/index.php?inc=bnc

Once you have signed up we will review your application, after which
your application will be accepted or declined.

Best regards,
André van Vliet
SolidRack, inc.

What is the benefit of having a bouncer?

Re: Free IRC bouncer courtesty!

It makes you c00l...

... And its also helpful if you're in a large number of channels so you don't get Target Change Too Fast when trying to join them when you connect normally, since your bouncer stays in all your channels.

It also logs your PMs whilst you're not there, and with some bouncers you can set them up to log channels too. Also, it stops anyone taking your nickname when you're not there.

So overall, I'd say whoever came up with the idea initially, had a genious one.

Kloopy.

What do they get out of it though? Sounds a bit dodgy to me :¬/

Anarchy always told me it is possible for the person in charge of the server to gain access to the bouncer (BNC) of somebody they are hosting, though i cant say if this is true because im not an irc knowledge geek :¬/

If somebody randomly gave you a car, you'd want to know why and of course you'd check to see if it was safe before driving it.
