changing IRQ's

My soundcard and modem are both using IRQ 3, so if I try to use the modem without disabling the soundcard my computer begins to lock up. I've tried uninstallind/reinstalling both devices and swapping slots, but both always take IRQ 3 for some reason. I'm using windows ME btw.

Excuse me for posting the same thread in 2 forums, I didn't realize I was in the wrong one until after I posted it. I guess that's what happens when you're about ready to throw a computer out of a window.

Try shifting one of the PCI cards into a different slot.

Whats the rest of your system (specifically, what motherboard (if you dont know, what processor type, and what memory type) and sound card).
