Re: [Poll] Swearing
Not at all.
I'm more offended by people denigrating or belittling other people or groups.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
No, although it depends on the context.
I'd probably be more offended if someone called me a cu*t than merely referring to me as "a thoroughly disagreeable gentleman" for instance.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
I am annoyed if people resort to swearing in order to avoid having to admit defeat in an argument, for example. But still not offended.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
No I'm not offended by swearing, although I do think there's a time and a place (I wouldn't swear at any of the customers in my work for example, much as I am tempted sometimes). As Dante said I am more likely to be offended if someone swears at me, rather than swearing in a general ranty manner which is what I tend to do.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
It depends on who's saying it. If some random skank tells me to **** off, i'll tell him to **** off right back (because he's a skanky little **** and could do with a pineapple rammed up his ****ing arse.)
If its my boyfriend that tells me to go **** myself (and he means it), i'd be severly pissed off and I'd probably smack him upside his head.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
lol Sunday8pm..
I actualy don't understand why people could possibly find swearing offensive. They're just words which are rarely used in the context of their meaning... except maybe f*ck. They aren't derogatory either.. Really don't get why people find it offencive.

Other way round for me tbh, if someone swears at me I know that what they're saying has no substance. If someone expresses disapproval in an orderly manner then I take that more personally, although I rarely get offended by what others say... Only friends/people close to me can offend me ;-)

Re: [Poll] Swearing
Good humoured swearing, in the right company (ie. not in front of little kids) is fine but I do have a lower opinion of those who swear habitually and indiscriminately. It shows a lack of intelligence, verbal creativity and respect for others.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
People who swear every second sentence sound disgustingly common. I find it horrible to listen to, but 'offensive' is a silly word.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
I strongly object to people swearing in front of--or for that matter, at--my children.
That's my job.

swearing really doesnt bother me, there is not a single swear word that offends me, they are just words after all, you would have to know me to really offend me

Re: [Poll] Swearing
Swearing is a way of life here to be honest. [Ireland] Everyone I know swears and doesn't even notice it. Even in polite company most of the time.
I'm working with many nationalities and they've all commented that they never swore or even said fk much before coming here.
One of the german girls said she was shocked to hear us swearing all the time. Now she swears more than us.
And she likes it. Heh.
So, no.

It depends on the company, there's a time and a place. It doesn't bother me, but I know it does bother some people. I just think it's rather sad when people swear to look cool.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
I dont mind swearing if its used in the right place and time and is used in the right amount. People who swear for the sake of it are scum in my eyes. I rarely swear unless i need to.

Re: [Poll] Swearing
Its also better if you don't use swear words too often - it removes the shock factor of it. Saying the S word instead of the F word for a while is a good tactic - when you come to saying the F word its that tad bit more shocking.
It's the same principle as your mother never swearing her whole life and then yelling "**** OFF YOU UGLY BASTARD, THATS MY SPACE!" across a busy carpark in the middle of town.
