Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
normally when important people known in the pa universe leave i read their good bye messages and/or not at all write that i feel sorry because he has been a good addition bla bla.
but now i feel morelikely shocked that the great always (a bit) hated master spinner is leaving the planetation house. is this the end or only the beginning ?
no matter what comes i thank you for the fun i had with YOUR game the last (nearly) 3 years.
i hope you and your family can find a good home and get a new job, you´ve proven you´re genious.

I cant say that I didn't exect this, as you have hinted towards it in previous statements, but no matter what others say (myself included) you did bring Planetarion to where it is, and you never stopped.
All the best,

A sad day indeed.
I've often questioned your decisions, but never your dedication or sacrifice.

in in orbit of devotion, deception
"The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful." - Matthew 13:22
What a chock! So much devotion so much hope... and not much regard from Jolt in return.
Friendship is a priceless gift that can not be bought or sold, but its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold. Spinner, you are definitely my friend and the friend of many online gamers and I hope you know that's true!
Don't forget that we will always be there as support when it seemed you can't stand.
My deepest repect/regards to you Christian!
Thank you and best wishes.

Heh, some anticipated this after the lack of interest taken in the server problems, but not perhaps quite into this extent.
Amazing game, amazing community. Let the little boys play politics...
Maybe we can all return to our "lives" (or lack of thereof) now.

Grow up child, why did you have to come and spoil the people thanking the guy that gave us the game in the first place, do us all a favour and delete the post.
These people aren't hypocrites, they are merely rewarding what spinner has done. I'm sure spinner will be the first to admit he's made a few cruddy decisions and most of us were there first telling him so. But no-one, and I do mean no-one, has the right to ridicule how he felt about the game and question his conviction in that he though what he was doing was the right thing.
As far as not staying to sort ou the current mess - why the hell should he stay if he ain't getting paid?
Now be an adult and take your moaning someplace else.

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
[font=Verdana] This is probably the saddest day in all of Planetarion ( all its 11 rounds ).
Sad to see you leave Spinner, but understandable. And if you havent found a nice job yet. Give me a call or pm again ... I can use another cook
Thanks for the wonderful times , the ups .. the dows .. all of it. As that made PA .. untill PaX came along. No offence to Jolt, but rename the game (PaX) to something else folks .. and let Planetarion die with the honour it deserves.
Its been fun for as long it lasted.
Cheers Spinner (and the rest too ofc! )

Goodbye Spinner
I've enjoyed playing Pa (X) a lot, despite the flaws/bugs/features.
Despite all the troubles, Pa turned out to be one of the most influencial online (browser) games. Never did a game soak me so deep into it's community.
Farewell and be proud of the things you (and the pa-team) created!

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
I think in 10 years or more those of us who played PA and had our lives influenced by it will still be able to remember yourself and the other creators as creating and managing one of the most influential and copied games on the internet.
For all the good times, the bad times and the downright sleepy times in the last few years I say thankyou, and wish you the best of luck with your family and real life.
Regards,

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
All I can say is that Spinner promised us a date when this round would start... and he failed that promise with about 2 months...
He promised us that it was not really posible to cheat... and its easier than ever... so failed again...
This is how it has been for rounds and rounds...
Now jolt had promised him money (contract) and fails to give them to him... Its hard when ppl doesn't keep their promises right?
Actualy Spinner shouldn't get a full sallery (moraly) cause he hasn't done his job as he was suposed to and as he promised. Its just too bad and its maybe hard to say it but its the truth.
We have been lied to by Spinner and to be honost I think many ppl has taken nearly as many sacrifises than him... because of his lies...
Apart from the fact that Spinner doesn't know how to estimate and keep a promise he has been a great developer and a great person and for sure the most important for PA and he should ofc be loved for that.
Gl to Spinner in the future and I hope this is not the final hit to PA which will kill it totaly. A game like PA doesn't deserve that.
Sorry for being a little hard on you Spinner but from time to time the truth is not beautifull...

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
Mid round 1 i came across this game in my technical studies class, half of us were fiddling about with it, anything to stop us having to work. Round 2 came and i learned about irc, alliances etc. things continued on this way till r4 when i was made a hc of an alliance. happily helped out from then till round 7 where we finally disbanded. In that time i made a lot of friends, some enemies and some ppl who really didnt care bout much. rounds 8,9 and 9.5 came and went before i knew it. tried quitting but, was obsessed with this game . now r10 is here.
i for one look back on planetarion as something which brought people together, over vast distances for one cause, to build ships and plunder roids . i have no doubt in my mind, that if it wasnt for pa i`d have never made the friends i have now, indeed i`d probably be off somewhere doing something i didnt particularly like.
Spinner, for this i am eternally grateful. without you or pa who knows how life may have turned out. you have my thanks

You have 2 be such a asshole 2 say that.
1) spinner (and some friends) started the game with there own money for free
2) the made promisis that they sometimes could not keep (but so does everyone
3) they put in lots of time and effort
and the there are always assholes who think they should flame a person for creating a cool game
the people workin on Planetarion mostly work for free and the ones that do get paid are NOT getting rich from it
but they do it anyway dispite all the people nagging and bitching on ircand the forum
i personaly am impressed by the whole Planetarion team (creators, pa-crew and irc ops (and everone we dont know)) for doing such a good job under this much presure!
guys my hats off 2 you
now 2 all you naggers, go find a other game if you dontlike this one!
and spinner if you dont show your face ones a week in #planetarion channel we will come and get you! ;-)

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
cbk100 - Spinner was never offered a salary by Jolt, it was always a profit share that his contract had on it.

Re: A sad, strange, but needed goodbye
So now Spinner joins the swelling ranks of the "retired" & "Ex" PA Team/players!
I add my best wishes & thanks to all the rest that have been posted here. Not only did you create a game, your game spawned an incredible community which I've been proud to be a small part of.
Good luck m8 and thanks. While PA was good, it was VERY good.

Fudge is lurking in the background, as usual. I'm sorry about the downtime here the other day, I was sure everything was running smoothly so I had started relaxing my monitoring a bit. (And not be obsessed with checking fleet.fcg every wake hour. )
Both Spinner and I are in financial problems due to Round 10 not generating enough money to pay us back what we've lost while developing it, nor enough to keep us barely afloat while we run Round 10 / make Round 11.
I'm going to try and keep the servers running as smoothly as possible until the round is over. What's going to happen with Round 11 isn't decided yet.
I am actively looking for a new job, but as these things tend to take a while, I might as well keep an eye on you lot.
