Dogma was ace.
J&SBSB was kinda gimmicky however.

Re: good film trilogies
But ofc, Beverly Hills Cop is a MUST
I just thought of that Taxi Taxi stuff, there are 3 parts as well....
I recently spotted "From Dusk til Dawn 2 + 3" in my video store, that is soooooo sad. Really trashy fakes, don't think Quentin has done them.
3 chosen films with Jackie Chan?

Actually I prefer Dogma to Chasing Amy (just). My point was with those movies it's clearly not a trilogy.
The first two films are vastly superior to the rest. Clerks obviously being the best.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is OK, although as Sunday notes - rather gimmicky. It's like the worst excesses of forum humour where everyone just becomes so self-referential that genuine humour is dropped from the equation.

Re: good film trilogies
Gotta be Star Wars (episodes 4-6), I shall reserve judgement on 1-3, although they do have the major downfall of having Jar Jar Binks in.
Oh, and Kevin Smith films pwn, especially J&SBSB (as per my sig). I hurt from laughing at the end of that film the first time I saw it.

Re: good film trilogies
lots of ideas! thanks all! i think we have easy access to about 4 or 5 of the trilogies mentioned here, so we shall probably choose from one of them

"Star Wars 1.1: The Phantom Edit" is quite good, although they of course haven't gotten Jar Jar out completely.

"El Mariachi" Trilogy
El Mariachi, Desperado and Once upon a time in Mexico.
Although the first film is entirely spanish (for us non spanish speaking that is) its still a must see.

Yeah but I can see him on irc so the overall quantity of idimmu in my life has not appreciably decreased over the past few weeks.

Re: good film trilogies
I think there's just a lack of firefox plugins or the fact that windows SP2 is out and there's no glaring flaws yet that have resulted in his diminished presence on the GD forums.

AP1 was pretty good, two was clearly just an attempt to milk the fans but was still fairly funny. By AP3 they had run out of ideas and it was pretty weak. And now they are doing AP4
As for Alien, 3 was really pretty poor. Could have been good if the studio had let fincher do what he wanted but they interfered so much that its a very poor film

It fell in the trap that alot of trilogies seem to fall into (matrix especially) that being it was made purly for the money it could make. LIke most movies that fall into this trap the first was a movie that was self contained and didnt really have a sequel in mind, when it was a success they then forced another out to cash in which ended up basically ignoring alot of what made the original good and when that was successful they have done a 3rd which again was rushed and badly thought out.
I have nothing against doing sequels but it would just be nice if Hollywood didnt try and force them so much, if it can have a sequel done they shouldnt rush it so much and give it time to be developed correctly because a poor sequel just sours the viewing of the original

Quentin didnt do #1 either. From Dusk till Dawn may have had him as an actor, but hes definetely not the director.

Re: good film trilogies
ah, he did the screenplay though, i knew that he had more to do with it than just acting
however, having seen the sequels, i can safely say that they are unmitigated trash, however, the third film is slightly better than the second
another trilogy i want to say:
tremors
the first one rocked, apparently the second and third are dire but cheesy, so i am on the lookout for them

Superman 1-4?
1 to 3 are pretty ok to watch. I can't really justify you watching 4.
