I can't get cable or DSL, but satellite is so hugely priced that i can't be arsed, quite frankly.
And you get Überhigh lag on games.
And you get lag on IRC.
And it screws up when it's cloudy. Hell, our Sky Digital always screws up around this time of year, "no satellite signal is being recieved" and all that.
Good luck.
(Ps. Where are you btw?)

Yeah, price wasnt that bad. $100 for the satellite and modem. Around $200 to install. $40 a month + modem isp = $10 month.
Games: don't care, can't play them on this modem anyway! I just want fast browsing (porn). IRC lag is ok, I don't say much anyway.
I've read all the forums about interference, the only thig that seems to bother it is snow, which they get a lot of (a foot of snow I woke up to this morning). There are loads of tricks to keeping the snow off, like putting rain-x (stuff for car windscreens) on it. It can't stick to it then!
I'm in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire... erm... America?
It's quite a lot more expensive from BT, because they're just about the only ones who do it so they can charge what the fk they like for it.
And Oftel says they're not monopolising

Vanilla - What limits do you have on your connection? My friends have a satellite connection and they get limited at 150mb/hour.

170mb
But I dont care.
PS - it's not per hour, that's misleading. let me eplain it to you this way.
You have glass. It contains 170mb. As you download at 100k, it's taking 100k out of the glass.
The glass is your speed. If you download all 170mb, you speed drops to modem speeds.
The glass does refill.....but at around 5k per second.
It's all I need, I don't plan on downloading 24/7, but when I want something, i want it fast!
