sword officially quits GD (for good)
As his forum accounts keep getting banned at the whim of some retard, sword has decided to officially quit GD for good which he knows will please some of you whilst disapointing others.
Read his Almanac for 2003 to remember the good times, though he never predicted that he would be unwelcome here.
http://pirate.planetarion.com/showthread.php?t=155903
This is his last ever goodbye thread and he wants to say that truly honestly, he loves some of you guys.
Goodbye.

Re: sword officially quits GD (for good)
Sword may lack a sense of self-censorship, ie the abiility to recognise when something isn't funny and then not post it, but that's no reason for a ban.
I'd like to see a sticky thread of acountability.
Every time a mod (or other shady figure with admin powers) deletes a thread or bans a user, they could take a moment to add a line...
<user> banned by <mod/shady figure> because <reason>.
I can see no good reason no to do this other than the corrupt wishing to maintain their power. If there are people running this board who are into the power rather than the public service, they should do everyone a favour and just leave.
btw I use the term "shady figure" because it seems to me (as someone with no knowledge of the internal politics of this board) that there is one person in authority doing what the hell he likes and leaving the others to take the blame

I didn't do it, but I'll quite happily step up to the plate and take as much blame as anyone wants, as it'll mean people will have the perception that I've done something, when in reality I've done absolutely **** all for ages.

We have this on the mods board and the reasons given there seem valid in my opinion.

having that thread on a private forum kinda defeats the purpose of the thread in the first place....

The purpose of it was to inform the other mods, not every man woman and child on the forums. In case you don't remember the users don't actually decide who gets banned. This is not a democracy*.
*That always sounded so much better when jboy said it heh.

No, people aren't asking for a say.
They're asking to be told whatever it is that's decided.
That's the biggest problem here, the community is the most important part, without it there wouldn't be anything here, but it's treated as if it doesn't matter.
All of the problems with the new forums etc are based around that too.
All (most) of the problems people have with karm, etc are based around it.
and so on

You do? I must keep missing that.
The only problem i have is that whatever sword was, he was not causing harm to either the forums or the members. He was not detrimental to the forums in anyway and did not deserve a ban.
**** it, Kura's posted far less funny and far more annoying crap but no one wants him banned.

does that mean i "win"?
jonny: it's part of a larger issue.
Why did no one consider the forum intergration passport thing in the first place?
Why did no one mention the hacking on our accounts?
Why has that STILL not been explained by anyone?
What's happening now with the passport system?
How was the forum hacked via JJs account?
Is our personal information on the forums still secure?
And mostly importantly, who's stupid idea was it to put karm in charge?
etc etc

I believe everyone was told that the upgrade to vb3 will prevent any new occurances of hacking along the lines we experienced. Not too sure on this issue as it's not my area, so your personal information should be secure yes.
On the other questions I'm not qualified to answer unfortunately.

Re: sword officially quits GD (for good)
so, can someone tell us the reason he was banned then? this is a person who has payed to play pa before, not only that, but has payed for others to play (ie, me, if you didnt get that) and, even though he can post some shit, i cant think of anyone on these boards that cant.
aslo: i havent actually seen a reason in this thread for his banning, i may just be being stupid (again, a trait of mine) but can some mod please post the official reason so that i can read it and at least then we will all know.

I loved the first big threads by sword on these forums last year.
He definately didn't deserve to be banned.

The problem with you admin and mod types is that you're too busy banning funny, non-threatening posters like Sword to notice that I have about 250 accounts lined up to cause as much disruption on here as I see fit.

4) to be decided
5)JJ's account wasn't hacked - at least nto through a forum vunerability - if it was surely someone would have got my or ashys accounts by now
6)Yes - at least as secure as anywhere elseon the net
7) i ain't incharge JJ is

Re: sword officially quits GD (for good)
Sword has been unbanned and his account "sword" is active again if he cares to login.
A mistake was made and ive rectified it.
Hopefully it wont happen again but all the mods are human and sometimes mistakes will be made because of external circumstances (i blame the television and todays youth culture).
Hope this clears things up.
