2 things spring to mind

1. After a brilliant start, his negative tactics have been found out, and he wants out while the going is good.

2. Something has genuinely happened to himself or a family member which is severe enough that he needs time away from the club.

A third , highly unlikely option, is

Spurs are utter crap.
Its one of the worst managed clubs in the Premiership.

Seeing how Santini did with the French National Team, I always suspcted him of not making it.
Its been rumoured that he had fights with Arnesen earlier, so this wasnt a shock.
