One guy prelaunched on me with something like +10 or so. It's just not funny. And when you have 9 fleets prelaunched like that, you don't know what will come together at what tick. If you guys make it so easy for inactive people to attack someone, why don't you make it at least fair to the guy getting prelaunched and tell him when exactly his incs are going to appear.

That would make prelaunch ridiculous imo

You'd be able to pre-launch defence that you wouldn't be able to send normally, e.g. Marauders against Zik DE incomings and Tzens against Xan CO incomings.

That would be a bad thing.

They could probably cut prelaunch to 3 or 4 ticks maybe which would still allow for sending attacks at a reasonable hour and having them appear at an unreasonable one.

But I have to say there is a lot more important things to focus on and tweak than that. Besides, if people think it's that effective and great, then there is nothing to stop them from using it too. Personally, I'll carry on launching at xx:59 and pretending this is somehow better just because its how I used to do it in 'the good old days.'

When I started playing again a little bit in r13 on those occasions when I prelaunched I used to do it at xx:59. I have no idea how I thought this was going to help me

Which is only fair. If you can't be bothered to put in the effort at the right time, then you should expect your attack to be easy to cover.

Because it's possible to change the tick you prelaunch something?
Prelaunch it for 10 ticks. Make sure the person you're attacking discovers this, and sees you launch in 10 ticks using this "ubercool scan".
Change it to 0 prelaunch just before the tick.

Firstly, this isn't a solution to before - if you want to lurk on someone, you just have to reset prelaunch a bit more often.

Launching later does help. I've managed to get cr/bs ships on anti fr/de calls before because they were hitting a planet constantly so we often JGPed it. We covered some calls before they'd launched. I found it amusing

True, but then again, the guy would have to be active to do that. I am not against someone changing his prelaunches every 5 minutes, I am against 2-3 people from smaller alliances prelaunching on you with +10 and going away, knowing there is not way to cover them.

It stops being amusing when the same people keep you waiting 5 or more ticks until those incomings finally appear, defeating any chance of you knowing when to send those cr/bs on def.
