Euro 2005 Champions
Not that anyone in the world cares but Germany have just beaten Norway 3-1 in the Women's Euro 2005 Final.
Where was it won? In the prestegious Ewood Park in Blackburn.
Why are the BBC wasting my time with this rubbish?

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
Because they have to show it. You cant show mens football and refuse to show womens. There would be alot of moaning otherwise.

here they show the highly important 'confederations cup', something i never even heared about before a few days ago.
id rather watch womens football than seeing us play bad against football superpowers like autralia or tunesia.

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
Actually it was a pretty good first half. Much better than 80% of men's football.
Two quality goals too.

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
They showed it for its comedy value, clearly.
I saw 30 seconds of it which consisted of Germany's ugly substitute goal keeper falling over whilst on the stage receiving her medal. Oh, and she was an utter minger.

there's nothing wrong with the stadium. But it says everything that you need to know that the final of the womens European competition was held in Blackbur. It just screams quality.

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
I think you're being a bit harsh. I've never been a supporter of women's football and never gone out of my way to watch a game if the BBC decide to show one, but the other weekend i thought i might as well pop down to Ewood to watch England play Sweden seeing as it was only a fiver a ticket. I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was better than most Premeirship games i have been to and the attendance was somewhere in the region of 27k, which is more than Rovers get on average but perhaps that says more about us than the women's game in general. The only way they were ever going to sell out for a game was if England got to the final, which wasnt very likely hence the final was at Ewood where you'ld get a better atmosphere than an empty City of Manchester stadium.
The general quality of the football wasnt that great, our right back seemed to enjoy hoofing the ball at goal from 40 yards out and getting closer to the corner flag than the goal, but there were the occasional skillful moments. You dont get much in the way of diving either, which is good to see.
Oh and the England team stayed in a 5* hotel in Blackburn. I was also shocked to find out we have anything worthy of a star.

Well an argument could be made that as the state funded broadcaster the bbc has to bring you the shit no commercial station would (lo old people playing bowls).
Im not watching womeuro2005 because the girls look like men, only more shit at football, if they looked hot like tennis or hockey players id watch.

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
Woman's football has taken some huge steps lately. This will continue if they will get a proffesional league set up somewhere (like Germany).
Back in the 50's and 60's, mens football was pretty crap compared to the standard of today. So expecting woman's football to be as good as the men's is idealistic.

Re: Euro 2005 Champions
Well, German women or Norwegian women?
Unfortuntaly I've never met any Norwegain women.
Ninty percent of all the German women I've met have been rather pleasing.
I think they deserved to win.
