Desire
Think about sexual desire and realize how primitive it is.
One moment, rational human being, next moment hormone pumped maniac.
Still, we appreciate it. (Well, most of us).
No matter how far we take our technological development, as long as we don't tamper with our bodies all that much, we'll still have sex and still feel that it's great.
In a way, I feel that it's stepping down from rocket scientist to dog in two steps. But that's just what we are.
Please, don't be ashamed of yourselves.

You're wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start.

It's part of living, the thing that sets us apart is that we have the willpower to not act on our desires because we can rationalize them and imagine the consequenses.

It's just evidence for Darwinism.

Desire is a manifestation of willpower

Don't say that.
Please share your wisdom so that we might learn from it and grow as human beings.

It's a pretty terrible thread, and I wasn't going to take time making sure my post was correct. I just got the meaning across.
Darwin's still doing pretty well though.

How so? Desire (in this context) is an instinct, the primal urge to reproduce, the very thing that is responsable to keep us alive as a species. The fact that we are (in some cases) able to control and manage that desire is a sign of willpower that 'lesser animals' don't have.
Unless you mean to imply the fact that we only desire and not act upon that, then I agree, but thats basically what I said and then you were just being pedantic, but after all, this is GD right.
