I was just saying the same thing to a friend the other day, only with better apostrophisation.

There should be a public awareness campaign to encourage people to look for earwigs and take an unofficial census.

Strangly, i have noticed Earwigs always tend to be where tents are.
Put up a tent, and within hours, you'll find an Earwig inside.
