I don't care what you think
BBC Radio 1 is a cool radio station.
I listen to Chris Moyles almost every morning.
I also listen to Colin & Edith.
I also listen to Spoony.
And I totally enjoy listening to Zane Lowe and the Lock Up.
The station plays a mixture of music which I quite like. I fail to see why should I dislike them...

Re: I don't care what you think
Radio 2 is better in my opinion.
Better music, more intellectual presenters and greater comedy.
[edit]
Besides, who said you aren't allowed to like Radio 1?
Everyone is allowed to like whatever they want - within reason (we're looking at you Dace...)

Re: I don't care what you think
Chris Moyles is a presenter I do find funny. However, I recognise that regardless of class or creed, he is like marmite - people either love him or hate him.
Beyond that I like Jo (on after moyles) and C+E - allthought for the sake of everyone I wish they'd just get married as they might as well be (****sake they live together).
Scott Mills is a twat.
Zane is also fairly cool.
My £0.02.

Re: I don't care what you think
I listen to radio 2 quite a lot these days, its good

Re: I don't care what you think
it's nice that you don't care about what others think
but it is wrong that you then go on to make a subjective statement.
"i like radio 1" would have been better than "radio 1 is a cool radio station"
no one is going to criticise you for you beliefs but equally you shouldn't assume that your belief is superior to anyone elses.

Re: I don't care what you think
Problem with radio 1 is, all they do is talk. Especially chris moyles, I used to really like his show but it just got to the point where there was like 3 songs an hour, the rest of the time he was trying to be comic and failing. The music mix is good I just wish less chit chat and more music, and also less of the same song, I swear if I hear Artic Monkeys and Sean Paul one more time aghhhh

Re: I don't care what you think
Radio 1 has dropped in quality over recent months, but thats probably down to the poorer music thats been released recently. Having said that its something good to dose to in the mornings and listen to while working at night.

Re: I don't care what you think
Ive started listening to Kerrang quite a bit whilst driving. Its mix of classic and modern rock is rather ace. However at times the presenters and the music delve into the depths of shit and i switch back to Radio 2.
I only ever listen to Radio 1 when theres that top40 countdown thing on a sunday. Most of the other times its a brief 'oh look song XXXXXXXXX is on and i like it so ill listen until it finishes and then switch back to a cd/radio2/kerrang etc'

See though, this all seems very silly when you compare these people to the likes of terry wogan, ken bruce, jeremy vine and steve wright.
Its a completely different class, these people (except jeremy vine maybe, i didnt even know he was on the radio until a few months ago) have spent millenia honing the craft of disk jockey. Not to mention the fact that the music they play on radio 1 is awful. I listened to it for one day last year and they played the crazy frog, twice.
that settled it for me.

Re: I don't care what you think
It was in Deffeh's thread that I declared my love for Radio 1, and it still hasn't changed Scott Mills is acceptable, but nowhere near the other three 'mainstream' presenters. Moyles is a cock at times but hilariously funny at others. Jo Whiley's show is consistently good, and ColinEdith do a pretty good show.
I can't stand Zane Lowe or Westwood, so I just stick on mp3s for the evening. I have enough of them

Re: I don't care what you think
I know I said I don't like the radio. But I sometimes listen online to xfm, which isn't bad.
and www.rock.com have a pretty decent playlist with no bloody talking and music vids and stuff.

I listen to that purely for the music. Sadly it doesn't have a decent 'programme' since Christian O'Connell left and Lauren Laverne has taken over Xfm breakfast....... well apart from the Rock Hour (which is once a week), Iain Baker with the X-List and Jimmy Carr.

Sometimes I cant stand my mp3 player, the radio well is different. On my mp3 player I dont have news, current affairs and well I dont have new songs that I never hear. In fact if I had a choice an mp3 player with 20gb of songs or the radio for the rest of my life I would choose the radio, the simple variety of it makes it better than all.
