Leeds doesn't have as big a fan base or economic clout, but still i just don't see how man utd can be made to make more money, even by renegotiating the tv rights thats a lot of debt for a club that is basically past its peak and entering a time period in which its manager and core players will probably be replaced. On top of that Chelsea sit atop the premiership with an owner who could flip glazer for his millions. Chelsea are far more likely to control the domestic and european championships than man utd this decade.

The average match day ticket price is somewhere in the region of £10 less than at Chelsea/Arsenal. They could raise ticket prices and still easily sell out every game (they have something like a surplus of 7k ticket requests per game).

Thats £10 * 67,000 = £670,000 per game and something in the region of £33.5 million per season (assuming about 50 games a season).

And Roy Keane gets £90k a week of that. Rooney gets £60k a week. The Horse gets £75k a week. You see what im getting at here? Man U make more in merchandising and advertising than they do in gate receipts. Expect new corporate sponsors, a renaming of the stadium (if he can pull it off) and a far more Media Friendly Man U. The days of Fergie only speaking to MUTV will be long gone. If they can get a player or a manager on TV showing off a logo, theyll do it.

That would just be 670k extra, they alredy make £2 million per game just through gate receipts which will increase when the expansion of Old Trafford is finished. Glazer will also probably try to bring in more corporate deals rather than normal fans which will take it up further.

I still can't see how he will make his money back though. He has put up £300mil of his own money which on Uniteds current profit levels will take 10 years for him to recoup, even without paying off any of the debt. I can't really see him living long enough for this to be worthwhile for him before he dies. I suppose this could be cut in half if he can double profits which should be doable through the price increase JC mentioned, the larger stadium and better exploitation of Asian and American markets though this could be hurt by falling prize money in Europe.

While it may not be worthwhile for him though I can't see why this would burden Man Utd too much. Yes it is a big debt for them to take on but loads of companies owe more than that and as long as there isn't a huge collapse in football revenue within the next decade it should be manageable.

Sorry i wasnt thinking . £20 million extra a season just from raising ticket prices inline with other clubs is still a decent amount though.
