Panic attacks

Anyone know how to reduce the effects of one? I've been having one for the last 20 hours or so and I haven't been able to sleep or eat or stop feeling terror or just generally like shit. I'm exhausted, but it's not seeming to help. The cause is a long story and the issue is not likely to be resolved in the next few years and I don't really want to go through this that long. It involves debt and my generally ****ed up fincancial situation.. Is there something I can eat or some exercises I can do? I know some of you here are like panic attack fiens.

Valium normally does the trick.

of course for that you'd need to see your GP.

other things that occaisionally help are hops, lavender, a hot bath, somewhere warm and dark and camomile tea.

A healthy diet including fresh fruit and veg, plenty of vitamin C, and cod liver oil also help.

After reading a bit online, maybe I just have anxiety, as panic attacks last only about 8 minutes.

From my experience with mental weirdness I'd suggest telling someone about what you're feeling and why. Once you've voiced it it no longer seems so bad.

So kind of like counselling. But if you talk to a friend / relative it's free.

I'd guess these things vary from person to person so I dont know how much the advice of others would help. If you get them regularly you'd probably be best seeing a doctor though. 20 hours does seem to be a long time, although I once had one which lasted 3 days. Normally though, I found that I always felt a lot better after waking up.

I don't get panic attacks, but when I am stressed I've found that running until I'm in physical pain helps quite a lot.

And yeah, you can buy generic valium (diazepam) quite cheaply (without prescription from certain websites) and it does work in terms of relaxing, although it is habit forming so be careful.

My girlfriend takes anti depressiva medications against panic attacks. She seems pretty normal and a lot more social then me in social situations but without her medication things go wrong. They say she lacks some kind of hormon or something that regulates the effects of social interaction on her nerve system or something like that.

Well I went to sleep yesterday at 7pm and woke up at 8am, so I slept for 13 hours and I feel a lot better. We'll see hopefully I can find a part time job while I'm school and save some money so I don't end up alone and homeless.

I find I get anxious if Im not looking clearly at a situation.... Often if I truly ask myself whats the worst that could happen, I realise, hell thats probably not that bad. But often its an uncomfortable process, and the lack of doing the thinking causes a lot of grief....

Alternatively masturbate furiously until you fall asleep.
