acer usually make nice laptops. planning to get one myself ( 3022wmli , model code LX.A4905.048 , although i cant find anywhere that does it now, and has it in stock - that models disappeared off the face of the -planet- it seems )

cant find any reason why its disappeared either, from what i could tell its a new model which sold blisteringly well for a time

As to the matter in hand, that laptop screams out to me " battery eater "
Though as you said its to be a desktop replacement, you'll have it on the mains and that doesnt matter as much
All in all, a nice laptop. wish i could afford to get that one

I have, but most are user-based, not official reviews (i.e. by magazines). The compshopper website has nothing from all three of its magazines


Thanks for your comments Phil, you're right that the battery will disappear FAST. But it'll be sitting on my desk permanently, so it won't be too much of a problem.

It didnt just sell out, it literally disappeared from all sites which were selling it - ie the model, according to them didnt exist anymore.

The Acer laptops are quite good, I service them as part of my job, the only common fault I've seen on some models is the cd/dvd drive failing, though it seems to be specific to some lite-on model drives.
