Cookies!
Chewy or Crunchy?
Which do you prefer? I'm told that our local subway store actually throws out their entire batch of cookies if they are not chewy because otherwise the Americans wont even buy them.
I have a slight preference to chewy myself, but I'll eat both.
Any particular flavour? Right now I've been into a mars-bar cookie that our local supermarket makes.

Cookie starts with C

I think it's another American thing. It's one of many options offered by the Baskin-Robbins iceream store that just happens to be next to the Subway one. My town has been heavily Americanised. Mind you.. it actually takes quite good, especially an oreo milkshake or choc-chip & mint cookies as examples.

Re: Cookies!
I don't like milkshake at the best of times - I simply can't imagine it with cookies in it
Personally the only Baskin-Robbins I have encountered is in Glasgow and it's staffed by spotty greasy haired mingers so I tend to avoid it.

Do you get a lot of Americans at your local Subway?
I prefer crunchy myself which is why I never purchase cookies at Subway. Chocolate chip is my favorite although sometimes I like a good ginger snap (a "chewy" ginger snap is simply a half-baked abomination). My children prefer chewy cookies and it's causing a bit of discord in the household. :/
Cookies (crunchy) are OK in milkshakes but a milkshake with fresh fruit (esp. blueberries) is to die for.

Do we get many? It'd be easier to say they are the entire reason the Subway outlet even exists here.
You see, quite a significant proportion of our population are American owing to the fact we have a top secret American spy base AKA Pine Gap operating near by. They employ somewhere in the vicinity of 1000 workers, mostly American joint defense personel (with a sigficant base of locals working there too) serving their time, most of which end up staying at the end of their duty.

Re: Cookies!
I prefer chewy cookies, although I like ginger snaps. Of course I eat them crunchy too. What I really really have an addiction to at the moment is the little flapjack things and the gingerbread men in Sainsburys. They're a rip off, but soooooo nice!

I'm an American but prefer my cookies crunchy. My favorite would be peanut butter. However, I only bought a cookie from a Subway once. Chewy or crunchy, who cares, they don't make good cookies!

An American with a preference to peanut butter.. who would have geussed
Actually I don't mind peanut butter cookies myself.
As for the quality of Subway cookies, I didn't find them too bad. Though it's hard to say because there's no gaurentee of consistant quality between each outlet. What a Subway choc-chip cookie tastes like from a American Subway outlet may not be anything like a Subway choc-chip cookie from an Aussie one. Infact I've long suspected that some of the limited American foodstuffs I've had the privilige to try here probably are in no way representative of how they taste over there, which is a shame because I strive to have the authentic experience.
I know for fact for example that the imported Kool-Aid we have is nothing like the genuine artical due to restrictions on how much sugar content a product on our store shelves may contain. It's the same thing with other imported products like Big-Red bubblegum, which has some key ingrediant removed as it doesn't pass Australian safety regulations. I also notice where a lot of American food products use corn syrup for sweetening, our local versions substitute with cane sugar, which has a very slight but noticable effect on taste.

Chips Ahoy! Original chocolate chip and crunchy. Dip them in milk or orange juice. It's my late night snack when I can't fall asleep.

Are you serious? Orange juice? Still I geuss I can't knock something till I try it.
Chips Ahoy! are pretty good I will admit. For years I would see advertising for them at the back of Alf comics when I was a lot younger. So allured was I by the promise of a super biscuit loaded with chocolate chips that when they eventually appeared on store shelves here some 10 years later I just had to have one! Score one for flashy advertising

Yes, high fructose corn syrup. When I was young, high fructose corn syrup wasn't in use and EVERYTHING was cane sugar. Cane sugar is far superior to corn syrup in taste. Locally, we produced a lot of beet sugar. When refined, it was very close to cane sugar. Corn syrup pretty much put the sugar beet industry out of buisiness.I don't know how old you are, but something that sounds odd but is very tasty is beer and peanut butter cookies. Eat a cookie, sip some beer. No dipping. The bitterness in the beer makes the cookie twice as sweet.
