I was working for a large american firm down south. Due to them being American they are totally paranoid about security. Everyone has a security pass even the cleaning ladies. Theres about a million security checkpoints and pretty much every internal door has to be opened and unlocked using a card whether it be a swipe or one that you wave infront of a grey box thing.
I was lugging a lot of equipment around so on my way to the training room I was helped out by passers bye who just waved their cards at these machines which basically acted as airlocks.
Two large glass things that swept up and then back down to let people through or block entry.
I didnt realise that my card wasnt infact working. SOOOOO after finding this out i had to walk all the way back t the other side of the 'compound' to find out why my card was busted.
On the way i was once again helped by passing people. I was nearly back to reception and had only one more glass thing to go through. This guy waved his card infront of the thing for me and the door opened.
then it shut immediately...
I thought "fs not now"
He waved again and it opened then half shut then reopened
I thought 'GO GO GO GO GO GO GO' so i stepped through...except i didnt step through.....as i was half way in the thing decided to close again.
I had absolutely no idea how powerful these glass things were until both slammed into both sides of me causing considierably pain and embarassment as the guy just winced watching. I squeezed myself out and headed back to reception to find out that all 'visitor' security cards werent working and was issued a staff pass which operates everything via a wave infront of a sensor instead of a swipe.
I had bruises all down my arm and my right kneed hurt like fk for the rest of the day
i dont think i could sue tho
but i do understand your pain
