Expiration Date for ships?
shouldnt ships have expiry dates? a construction everynow and then or a reaserch to update their expiry dates? not to finsh c/r soo quick ...
well just a thought i dont know how it came to my head.. just ships not working due to their date expired etc..

Perhaps there should be some sort of fleet maintenance, but then this would hinder those who are roid thin (potentially those who are fairly less well in a war) and therefore would add to their woes.

I don't think ships should expire, they're not yoghurts. Plus I'd imagine there would be far too much data to store about each ship, not to mention complications of combat, to make it feasible.

I've always said that I believed that asteroids should expire to encourage more attacks.

It makes sense anyway, you can't expect a floating rock to produce infinite resources - sooner or later, all wells/mines run dry.

Wouldn't that also lead to people suiciding their fleets that are about to expire if they can't afford to 'fix' it?

You can make it so that the older the ship is the less guns work, suiciding will be less interesting again then.
But indeed that would mean that data of every ship has to be stored. with 5K players sometimes there are already problem. That to think about when there are a biljion ships around the universe near the end of the round
