It's a pointless catch 22 situation at the moment. The Israelis won't do anything until the Palestinians deal with terrorist activities, The PA isn't going to start cracking down on Palestinian militants until the Israeli's give assurances of action, which they won't and will only offer scraps of action anyway, and the extremists bloom in the status quo, where no action whatsoever seems to be happening and people become more and more disenfranchised. A lack of action and negative action only breeds more extremism and discontent on both sides.

Setting up a viable and productive Palestianian State alongside Israeli is the only way they're ultimately going to break the deadlock. Security problems will only be able to be dealt with from a position whereby the two sides are operating on equal positions and in unison.

Things are changing in that area , but they are changing very slowly.
Israel is slowly but surely taking over the occupied territories.
each day , new settlements are being build and each day, the house of palestinians are being demolished by bulldozers.
The dream of "great Israel" is becoming more and more true everyday.
In about 30 years , Israel will have taken over the palestinian territories and the settlements will be part of the israel state and there will be no palestinians around.
That is the true peace plan of the israeli government.

look at the map of israel of 1948, 1967, 1993, 2000 , 2001, 2003
its all there . ever since israel has been expanding its territory.
look at the map of east jerusalem. their building settlements in their too. ariel sharon alone has three houses in east jerusalem
they have the settlement party in their governing coalition for godssakes.

They may not like them, they may not want to be friends with them, but i dont think its fair to make the assumption that the arab world is just waiting to wipe out israel and the jews as soon as they get the chance, that was europe remember. Stop making wild unsubstantiated statements. Most of them, as all people, don't care whether or not Israel exists or not. Some political leaders use it to advance their own agendas and probably the exiled Palestinians living in refugee camps aren't too chuffed with the state of Israel. Israel has of course caused a lot of problems in the Middle East, both directly and indirectly, but hardly anything as to award them the sole or even the majority of the blame for any of it's current problems.

People really don't care about daft political goals or racial wars. All they really want to do is live contently in a relatively free society. However when one or both of these is impossible people always lash out. When you've got nothing to lose there is no reason to care.
