setting up a CVS server
right, so im doing a small project over summer with some friends, and so i figured it'd be a clever idea to setup CVS for code sharing, synching etc.

now, i have webspace + hosting that i *think* i can put the CVS server on, but im just not quite sure how to do it

i have found so far , this page, which tells me most i think i need to do, though my linux is a little crap i can probably bug my hosting ppl to helping me with it (hi inf, mt, slidey ) but from looking at various places i cant find the actually server files etc that i need.

anyone give me any help and/or link me to the exact file i need ?

For a decent cvs setup, you should be using cvs over ssh. The other alternative is pserver, which is much less reliable. To use cvs over ssh, you will need an account on that server machine for every developer. The admin of the server should put you all in the same group. Next set up your repository.

Really? shame, because cvs is quite possibly the sexiest thing since Jeekay in a thong.

well, i dont have ssh access (at least not to my impulsed.net hosting iirc).

if i could find someone with a linux box online though i might be able to do it

You only have a web account at impulsed? Yeah, even for pserver you are going to need (one) shell account to run it. I'm sure slidey will gladly sell you an upgrade ;)
