real Galaxy Names disappearing ?
looking at this for example, http://www.caeneus.org/planetarion/r...5galaxies.html , i really must say it's a damn pity that there is almost no Galaxy that actually has a Name, but all that counts today is to have the own crappy Alliance represented in the 'Galaxy Name'
Going on from Round 1 to Round 9.5 one can see that Names more and more changed into Tags.
of course this is an Effect that lately came with those big, random Galaxies, which bring a large number of Alliances into single Galaxies, where everyone wants to represent the own Group in the Final Ranks. But it already started before.
What i wonder is if anyone has a clue if there's anything planned for Round10 to bring back Galaxy Names like they used to be?
Some of them are quite legendary and fear-spreading or something
Like 'The 4 Horesmen of Fury' or 'Requiem' or 'Phantom Fighters' or 'Chix of the Day' or 'Mercury and Solace' and many more. I kinda liked the Ideas people had in naming their Galaxies.. some were really a bit Funny or just a bit Classic.
Often the people in the Galaxies were wankers but the Name was kinda good.
Maybe a 2-Part Galaxy Name, a Name and a Field for Tags or something.
If there already was a Discussion about that, i'm sorry :/
and if nobody actually is interested in Galaxy Names, i'm not sorry :/

could be solved easily by having a tags box and a galaxy name box...

All will be fixed in round 10 as there will be alliance rankings based on the membership of the ingame alliance. That will put an end to the use of tagging in galnames. At least some of that. BGs and local alliances/BGs will ofc tag.

Maximum of two tags, proper galaxy name all the way.
You got lots of alliances, put them in a fking banner.

Yeah, bring back proper names, even the names the used tags as part of the name were fun,
Look at all the Concordium gal names in round 1.

i believe it is ok to have any tags in a gal name cos i would b very annoyed if my gc\moc never tagged up my alliance & tagged up his as i would see this as being unfair & looking back the only reason why you never saw many tags on gal names in the past was because it was uncommon but now every1 does it to show how decent their alliance is..
When you look to join a alliance you usually go by ranking.
As this indicates how welll they the alliance is doing & a rough size of the member count.
So its quite important for a alliance & i think gcs & mocs understand this which is why we see so many

I agree, an extended galaxy description would be nice ...
Perhaps have the gal tagged based on the highest avarage in-gal score of any said alliance's planets in any given galaxy.
Say if a gal had 3 members of " Pub " , and 7 members of " Core " , and the overall score of the " Pub " members > " Core " members the gal tag would = " Pub " ...
The gal name could be set by the GC.
So the gal description would look like this...
[Pub] - The Adelante
Instead of multiple gal tags... an alliance would get credit for the amount of effort it put into a gal/the players of a certain alliances own skill would be rewarded.

R9 had real galaxy names (M&S, Condenación, Vertical Curves, HiddenDragon, Esthar etc.).

That didn't stop anyone back in the day. I'll remember being wiped out by someone back in round 3 from "Harbringers of death". Now that says something. Tags don't. Just a sign of the times I guess.

Round 3 wasn't completely random. And noone ever complained about not having their tag in gal if it said [Legion] or [Fury]. Either of those and they were more than happy.

galaxy names changed to tags cos ppl not being able to view Planet tags.... may be there should be an alliance thingy in game that allow ur alliance tag view able or some thing so the Proud alliances can come out of there shell when they have praticly won the round.... like always and galaxy names can be galazy names

Why not suggest that there is a galaxy tag option which is dumped into Pbot etc, and viewable on galaxy screen, leaving galaxy name to be free.

Myself started out as GC of 23:9. We started with the galname Ignorance is Bliss.
During the time I was selected as GC if never changed that name. It was that Zerocore(LDK HC) had far more roids then me, so we changed the GC Tag to zerocore(for better galscore since we where #1 at THAT moment).
I remained GC of the galaxy, only this position was in mid round not that important anymore. After he had the GC position he tagged our gal [LDK] only. Well imho that was selfish, and I kindly asked him to remove the tag.
We still had our old name, which i really love. I hate galname talking, tag talking etc... To my own sadness, at the end the people of my gal decided to tag Alliance Tags, instead of no tags and only the galaxy name...
Another sad loss to alliance Tags... Since Galname's rock... And I hope i can lead another galaxy in the near future with the same name.
