These sorts of actions are serious and total errors, and should be treated as such. They should not be casually dismissed. You cannot construct a proper partnership by being blasé about these things.

since when were americans ever serious about the concerns of people outside the usa? Their lack of regard is nothing new.

That's not really relevant to my point, which was how these incidents should be treated.

How come these errors are always americans killing British/Canadian/Coalition forces, and never americans killing americans?
The 'cowboys' should still be held accountable for their actions and not excused over an error.

It's not like this is a surprise.
Things like this have happened throughout the occupation.
The US have so far shrugged off any accountability in any of there actions. What makes you think this incident will be any different?

What if the 'cowboys' where misinformed about their target? What if it was a shoot or be shot incident? Surly you can blame them for incompetancy, but brutal slaughter of some policemen?

ofc they were missinformed (or better: they missunderstood the situation). you dont shoot your allies for the fun of it.
BUT if they keep on shooting first and then asking questions, things will only become worse in iraq. on the other hand, there is much else they can do, who wouldnt be scared and take extra-caution, if he knows some of his people get attacked by terrorists / whatever every day.
the whole thing just cant work out.

Iraq is hardly more dangerous to work in than Bronx a few years back.

Americans have killed/wounded Americans in this war, I don't recall the exact month but I remember sometime in Spring an American threw a grenade into another American's tent, I don't remember if anyone died though, but there were certainly major injuries if not fatalities.

The american troops are afraid of taking chances. If they can improve their survival chances by 1% by lowering someone elses by 100%, that's what they'll do. Risking your life to "stop the terrorists" is ok, but to save some iraqis life? no way!

Well.. from what I've heard from the norwegians I know who've served army-duty(bosnia, Libanon mainly) there are two stereotypes they keep claiming are true:
1. Americans as trigger-happy
2. Israeli as arrogant f*ckers.
i have no reason to believe they are lying
(most say the French are ok for some obscene reason though)

True, but while this has been said, from Jan 2003 less people have died than during the same timeframe last year. People have far more freedom to express whatever they want, and while Saddam apperantly is still alive, people are not so afraid of the Americans then they where/are of Saddams Bath party.

Agreed that while the truth lies hidden, the estimates, or professional guesses, made during Saddams rule, many thousand civilians have died. Not to mention the fear spread out by the Bath party, and the instability factor, conserning both the NATO member Turkey, and the Kurds living between them.

so you actually belife that saddam killed more people within a year than where killed during this war? you cant be serious.
and talking about 'instability' you cant be serious neither. the iraq is not stable at all. people seem to keep killing each other all the time.

While I can't say what happened in this case, I can say that if I was in a semi-hostile country, and saw a truck driving towards me at full speed with a machine gun strapped to it, my first thought wouldn't be 'oh, look at the funny policeman.'

my point exactly. thats why the whole thing just CANT work out.
if us-troops keep on with these accidents (which arent fully their fault, given the whole situation) the whole population will become more hostile, which means lots of new terrorists.

It's not an unreasonable claim. The Shia News puts the total number of Iraqis killed by the ba'thist regime (includes Saddam and his predecessor) at 5 million, or about 150K per year (on average). Other estimates put it at 1.5 million (about 60K/year on average). The lowest estimate I've seen is 350K under Saddam alone, or about 15K a year; but nobody really knows for sure.
Iraqi casualties during the war are likewise hard to pin down. www.iraqbodycount.net puts the Iraqi civilian deaths between 6122 and 7840. Iraqi military deaths are even more uncertain--I've seen estimates ranging from 5K to 15K.
Bottom line is there could be more Iraqis alive today than if the war had not happened; but it's hard to say for sure. In any case, I think it's the wrong question to be asking.

"Seem" being the operative word. In a repressive regime with state censorship where people are arrested and just "disappear," it doesn't seem like anyone's being killed at all.

This is the funniest bit
But survivors say that despite repeatedly shouting to the Americans "We are police!" the US soldiers kept on firing for 45 minutes.

I noticed that too... it must be a typo as it would hardly take them 45mins to destroy three cars.

There have been many instances of US soldiers killing other ones. They have generally slowed down now. If the Iraqis and/or coalition forces would USE THEIR BRAINS and stop at the CHECKPOINTS then there would not be a problem. They have not so far though.

They probably weren't saying it in English. Seriously, how do you shoot a guy for 45 minutes?

But that was no accident.
The whole point is that the american soldiers accidentally kill loads of coalition forces

I remember the story about the american soldier (wo happened to be a muslim) who threw a grenade into his friends tent, this is true, it actually happened and you can probably find it on the BBC website. He did it because he 'suddenly realised that the war was unjust and he had to help his Iraqie brothers or something like that.
