Mobile Phone Question...

Quote:
Important: The price of this handset is based on a new number registration to the Orange network. You will not be able to use or transfer an existing mobile telephone number to this handset. Existing SIM cards are used at your own risk and can invalidate your warranty should data corruption occur.
Can anyone who knows about these things tell me how true/likely the underlined bit is?
My current phone's kinda died, and i'd planned on using up the credit on my current SIM (T-mobile) before switching to the new one (or sticking with it and saving the hassle of telling people (random ones will do...) my new number....but this could be annoying for me

unless your phone has been put on that list of stolen phones i doubt it will be a problem. My friends used to get phones that had fallen* of the back of lorries** from other friends*** then have them uncut^ from the network and put in a new sim card. It seemed to work fine, until that new database thing came in.

* stolen
** people
*** neighbourhood theives pickpockets and general lowlifes
^ unsure of exact terminology

There are several sites on the net selling sim free phones.
I have brought phones from Extele and switched my sim between phones with no problems.
Ask Rids to be 100% sure, he's the phone guru.

hmm...a lot (£30) more expensive...which for the sake of convenience, and £7 credit doesn't seem worth it...

If your new phone isnt a stolen one you will be ok to use it.

All modern phones have a coded number on them. These are the numbers that network operators disable if someone reports their phone stolen.
