I have never left before a film ended as it was a poor film - i got draged out of Fight Club before that ended (actually before you find out there was only ever him) was not happy about that. I came close to walking out of scary movie two when i saw that in America and quite a few people did leave before it ended, and i almost fell asleep during Troy.

Oh i love Lost In Translation i thought it was a great film but not many people i know like it.

Apollo 13, and Heat.

The former, because it was pants (or so i thought at the time, tho i enjoyed it when it was on TV a couple of years later), the latter because it ran so damn late, and if i didnt leave i would have missed the last train home, and didnt really fancy walking home from Carlisle. :/

I once walked out of a movie Ive later come to appreciate.

"Summer of Sam"

The reason me and my friend walked out is because it was a "Surprise premiere" on something called "Cinema day of the year" (loosely translated). It was said to be a long expected premiere, and it was to be an exclusive.. A lot of big Hollywood "mainstream" movies was coming (Spiderman etc) and we had hoped for a different type of movie..

It was more a question of disappointment on what movies it _wasnt_ than of the movie itself

The Silmarillion is really good. I prefer LOTR though.

I wouldn't say the Silmarillion is slow moving as such...more random. Some of the stories are incredibly quick paced in terms of how much action/events are covered.

They werent aliens. They were super advanced robots. It was showing how that, even though the humans ruled the earth before, they were outlasted by robots.

They created the blue fairy for the boy, as they had seen what he wanted and wished to make him content. He was the only preserved "life" that could show them what it was like back then, so they wanted to make him as happy as a robot can be. So they recreated the idea of the Blue Fairy, and did what he wanted. Admittedly, the idea of the mother coming back for one day only was a little bizarre.
