Here we go:

Didn't the drummer (guitarist?) from British Sea Power break his arm after he sawed through the branch he was sitting on? (So cliched!)

3 bands is kinda hard and is liable to change.
Rage against the machine - killing in the name
smashing pumpkins far too difficult to choose one song, so: today, galapagos, ava adore, perfect, tonight tonight
oasis - again far too difficult so :stand by me, dont look back in anger, stay young, i hope i think i know

The Smiths - Panic
Pearl Jam - Nothing as it Seems
Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar
It's hard to give a favourite band, and even harder to give a favourite song by those bands, but these are currently what I am enjoying most.

It doesn't really give any indication in my case, because the tracks currently on my playlist are
Santa Esmerelda: Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
Bad Religion: Beyond Electric Dreams
and Rachmaninov's Prelude in C Sharp Minor

OK, true - I should have probably worded it slightly differently (I'm current listening to Eels & Swingin' Utters). But your favourite bands generally give an insight into the styles of music you enjoy.
I often subconsciously presume either everyone likes exactly the same as me, or that no-one likes the same type of stuff as me. Threads like this help to re-enforce that neither of those extremes are true.

Re: Top Three Bands
I'm curious as to how anyone could want to listen to Know Your Enemy in its entirety (or anything close to...), but each to their own I guess.
Might as well just add that my favourite songs of the moment are Mr Brightside by The Killers, Oh My God by The Kaiser Chiefs and Godhopping by Dogs Die in Hot Cars....expect them to be big in a couple of months

Re: Top Three Bands
I'm curious to know why anyone would actually own or have spent time aqquiring Know Your Enemy.
This Is My Truth wasn't even worth owning if you're serious about it.
Forever Delayed (although admittedly is a best of) is a superb album.
Out of all of them, I'd go personally for Generation Terrorists as being the most superb album, possibly of all time :/

In this type of thread most people don't bother to read other people's posts. They just post their own. Don't say that's just me, as I have had it confirmed in lots of places.
Also, people want to show off that "I know of bands and songs noone else really has heard of, but they're fantastic because they aren't commercial" streak we all have. So think of ambiguous songs, when in reality they aren't really their favourite.

Lipstick Traces is a lot better than Forever Delayed, and I'd have to put Holy Bible ahead of GT every time. This is My Truth isn't a bad album imo, but is let down by some songs.
