Re: mech wars, the rise of man

Sorry about my long absence, I replaced the arms properly, a light weapon and medium, sorry it took so long to fix it up. Hopefully -now- it meets standards ^.^

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

"MWAHAHAHAHA!!!"

*Hewitt laughs manically as he rips into the cybrid defence forces, grinning from ear to ear with glee as he watches his mech add to the growing pile of twisted and deformed metal. Noticing the damaged mech, Hewitt twists his torso to face the wounded cybrid mech and switches to the MLC's, also adding the SRM's into the mix.*

"Die! Cybrid scum!!!"

*Hewitt gives the mech a full blast of MLC and missile goodness smack bang into the torso.*

"Yeah! Suck on that biatche!"

*Hewitt now obviously enjoying himself immensely, switches the SRM's back into the rapid-fire group with the GG's and 20mms and gets back to showering the pack of enemy units with his lethal mix of weaponary. However, Hewitt is not (completely ) stupid fully realising that the enemy is bound to round on him sooner or later. So with this in mind Hewitt turns his mech a full 90 degrees - keeping the Jumper's weapons trained on the enemy by turning the torso - and bumps the throttle up to a third. After travelling only about 75 metres Hewitt shifts the gear into reverse and the mech halts abruptly before moving backward... 75 metres. When this point is reached, Hewitt shifts gears again. By moving back and forth like this while tearing the remains of the cybrid apart, Hewitt hopes to avoid any enemy snap shots and such - in a light mech one can never be too careful, especially with a 'DD' (Dreaded Defender ) hanging about.*

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

oh shit! come on, come on! i cant take much more of this!

mc starts up the mech as fast as possible while it shudders from various direct weapon hits as the shields are down, a loud humming signals that the reactor has kicked in and is ready for use

thats better you half-assed peice of scrap!

as soon as the reactor has warmed up mc quickly turns his mech to face the cybrid and fires his mpc into its ****pit area twice followed by a stream of laser-fire

you like that ya bugger? eh! here have some more ill teach you to fire on a powered-down mech!

fires the mpc into the mechs hips, just below the torso causing at least part of it to vaporize and weld together effectivly immobilizing it, he turns and runs straight through the structure, crushing everything in his path, he bursts out the other side and starts shooting into the group of tanks once more, though keeping a close watch for the cybrid defender

The Jumper walks, after having followed Hewitt into the base, using a circling movement and his torso spin to make him an harder target. Of course, the entire time, his weapons are blazing away at the enemy. Imagining his Mech to be a cheese grater, the cheese gets grated better and better as Fluffie's Mech comes closer and closer to its foes, unleashing a rain storm of bullets and SRM volley after SRM volley.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

Io cor: your mech is approved, but you won't be able to use it till the next mission

Hewitt: The damaged enemy light mech tries to evade your attacks, but while doing so steps on 1 of his buddies. Crushing the tank and toppling the mech. Your continued attack reduces the enemy tank numbers to 10 defenders and 9 light tanks however apart from some infantry sporting laser rifles and a few LAWs you don't appear to be attracting much attention

Mad cat: Various red lights spring on as your shield generator tried to put up a shield but it is immediatly smashed into by 3 SRMs and 2 LLCs, upon which the shield generator suffers a critical failure and burns out, followed by 2 PBC hits on your shoulders, super-heating the SRM launchers and causing the remaining SRMs to explode in their pods and shower the area in debris, as well as further damage your upper-torso, 2 more MLCs then smack into your center torso and break away most of your armor, unfortunately your MPC shots only damage the enemy mech's armor and by the time you burst out of the building on the other side (crushing 2 defenders on the other side) it has turned around and sends shots from its MLCs right past you, further scorching the remains of your shoulder. Only moments after that 4 LLC shots smash into your right side and cause your MPC to become heavily damaged (and thus inoperable) oh and how many times must i say, CYBRIDS DON'T HAVE C*CKPITS

Fluffie: Your cheese grater tactic works perfectly and as you engage the other light mech on short range, it quickly start experiencing failures. A few moments later MC's mech bursts out of a building and the light mech you're targetting opens fire on MC as well

Enemy damages:

1x cybrid light mech: Down, torso armor heavily damaged, leg armor lightly damaged, SRMs jammed.

1x cybrid light mech: minor external damages, secondary leg actuator #1 damaged, primary leg actuator #3 damaged, aft torso armor damaged, right arm armor damaged.

1x Cybrid defender mech: minor torso damage, leg armor damaged, primary sensor array damaged, primary leg actuator #2 destroyed.

Friendly damages:

Hewitt: no significant damage, several paint scratches.

Fluffie: No significant damage, right arm damaged.

MC: Shield generator critically failed, MPC offline due to damages, left and right shoulder destroyed, SRMs lost, minor torso damage, torso armor destroyed, right arm heavily damaged, right arm armor destroyed, left arm armor damaged, heat levels high, reactor at 80% stability.

note: if reactor stability reaches 0% (due to damage or heat) it either fractures or goes critical, in the first case all plasma is spilled into your mech and it's reduced to a pile of molten slag. In the second case all your remaining fuel as well as the plasma in the reactor go into a small scale fusion reaction, instantly vaporising most of your mech and reducing the rest to slag as well as destroying anything that happens to be close-by

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

*Hewitt chuckles evilly as he sees the enemy light mech 'trip over' a LAV.*

"Heh heh heh..."

*Hewitt's mech stops, takes aim...*

"Bye now."

*...and fires.

The twin MLC's and SRM's are unleashed once more, the twin green energy beams lancing out instantly while the two short range missiles almost lazily close the distance between the Jumper and the cybrid.

However, all this wanton destruction with no reaction has made Hewitt curious. Even as he ponders this while cycling back into the laser/gun/missile combo to go back to hammering the enemy LAV's and defenders Hewitt watches on the mech warrior Fluffie crosses his vision and process to turn a number of enemy units into swiss cheese... with no response.*

"It's almost as if they're draw to a more important target... OH"

"SH.T. Mad cat."

*Of course. MC had jumped over the wall eariler and hadn't been spotted since the base generator blew. Hewitt had completely forgotten about him. Sure enough just as Hewitt was hit with this revelation he managed to spot the lonely mech warrior just out of the corner of his eye as he emerged from a building inside the base. He was quite literally running a gauntlet of cybrid weapons fire - if Hewitt didn't know better he would've thought the computer evermind controlling this base was mega pissed off at MC for some reason.

Wasting no more time, Hewitt shoves his mech into full power and begins charging into the base. As he runs by the unresponsive group of cybrid Hewitt torso twists and strafes the pack with yet more fire from his GG's 20mm's and SRM's. In a matter of seconds he is inside the base and still charging forward.*

"Hang in there MC I'm coming to assist."

*Hewitt toggles through the targets until he comes to the dreaded defender. The resulting targeting receptical that appears on Hewitt's HUD appears smack bang in the middle of a building (assuming the enemy mech is still inside). Suddenly having what might be considered as a kind of insane idea.

*Hewitt turns his mech to face the building...*

"Oh I can't believe I'm about to do this."

*...and punches the Jumper's jumpjets.*

"YYYYYYEEEEEHHHHHHHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!"

*The mech rockets burst to life in all their glory and fire Hewitt straight into the solid wall like a 30-ton cannonball. Temporarily blinded by the masses to dust and debris that his mech's impact through a solid wall has no doubt created, Hewitt lines up his mech with the enemy killing machine using the HUD and lets loose with everything he has... NO DOUBT AT CLOSE RANGE.*

(SRM's and MLC's fire first, then it's all GG and 20mm rapid-fire goodness from then on. )

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

Hewitt: the enemy light mech suddenly glows bright red as your start turning away, indicating its reactor containment has failed. Your jump ends you not only in the building, but in fact ends right on the side of the Defender mech which immediatly tumbles over as your shots smash into it as well.

1x cybrid light mech: Reactor overheat, mech destroyed

1x cybrid light mech: minor external damages, secondary leg actuator #1 damaged, primary leg actuator #3 damaged, aft torso armor damaged, right arm armor damaged.

1x Cybrid defender mech: down, minor torso damage, leg armor damaged, primary sensor array damaged, primary leg actuator #2 destroyed, primary leg actuator #1 damaged, left leg damaged, right arm heavily damaged, secondary sensor array offline, primary communications array offline, primary computer damaged.

Friendly damages:

Hewitt: no significant damage, several paint scratches, torso armor damaged, jumpjets overheated, jumpjet intake #1 blocked by debris.

Fluffie: No significant damage, right arm damaged.

MC: Shield generator critically failed, MPC offline due to damages, left and right shoulder destroyed, SRMs lost, minor torso damage, torso armor destroyed, right arm heavily damaged, right arm armor destroyed, left arm armor damaged, heat levels high, reactor at 80% stability.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

*Hewitt's grin almost spilts his face from ear to ear as his shots literally hammer the cybrid mech into the ground.*

"YEAH! Suck on that you cybernetic piece of junk!"

*In a position of advantage, Hewitt backs up slightly and angles down at the defender mech now lying vunerable at his feet. Seeing as most of his enemies damage appears to be on the legs it is this area that Hewitt decides to concentrate on.*

Useful salvage here me thinks...

*Taking careful aim of the more damaged leg of the two on the downed mech, Hewitt once again opens up with the by now familiar MLC's. The two green beams don't have to go very far and neither do the two SRM's that follow quickly after.

However this mechs armour is much stronger than those of the puny LAV's and as such Hewitt does not stop with this one attack, immedately re-creating the much successful laser/gun/missile combo and using it to continue laying into his enemy.*

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

*Having stayed outta sight thus far, Varis decides he should get into the Action. He checks his pack and finds he has 3 more Demo charges left. He grabs one and sets the timer. He then steps out from bvehind the building had been hiding under and fires his jets. He soars high into the air and finds quickly survays the battle ground. He spots the buring remains of the first ill fated Cybrid light mech. He glances quickly, with his jets rapidly running low on fule, and spots the second, operational mech. His jets finaly quit and he comes down to the earth with a thud. He looks quickly around and finds him self in the middle of a few infantry, being in a power suit, they are a slightly larger threat to him then to mechs. He opens up with his machine gun a rips open the nearest two, turning them into small bloody pulps. He then moves full speed and picks his way between the buildings. He soon finds his way to the Mech he was looking for and he darts around to behind it. A light tank had spotted him but was quickly silenced by a long round from the machine gun. Varis turned back the his target and looked up at it. He saw that one of it's legs acctuators had been damaged, leaving a nice hole in the armour. The mech began to turn, having been attracted by the heat noise mad by Varis fragging the tank. Varis takes this as his call and fires his jets briefly. He arced up near the hole in the leg and threw the Charge into the hole, with the timer set on 0:10 and ticking. He then began his retreat, with laser shots and Machine gun rounds errupting on the ground around him. He quickly checked his intrenal clock and saw that it had 2 seconds to go.*

"Varis here. I don't think the secnd Light mech will be much of a problem anymore."

*He kept running and headed to where the others were. A infantry came out of the alleys infront of Varis but he simply swung his battle suits fist into the infantry and sent in sprawling down the alley.*

Fluffie's Mech's damaged arm stops firing, the pilot wanting easy repairs later on. With the rain of bullets slightly less impressive, Fluffie turns the torso of his Mech around, facing the Defender Cybrid. His bullets zoom in on it, followed moments later by a full SRM strike.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

ASME: not accepted, you can't fit medium weapons on the c*ckpit mounts
oh and MC is not going MIA, he's going KIA.

MC: Before the last enemy light mech goes down, it fires an alpha strike into your back, breaking through your armor and breaching your reactor. Your mech goes down hard and explodes a few moments later, the ejection system failing to respond. You're instantly vaporised.

Hewitt: The defender's leg shatter when your weaponsfire smashes into it, leaving the mech totally immobilized, however you are now getting the attention of the nearby tanks and you really should remove them from existance.

Fluffie: You fire into the already immobilized mech and immobilize it more, then several tanks begin attacking you instead of the now downed MC. Perhaps you'd be as nice as to remove them from the face of this planet?

Wo2: As your run you notice this ever so small explosion behind you, a few moments later pieces of debris impact all around you as the light mech's leg exploded violently, immobilizing the mech and sending shrapnel in every direction.

defender mech: immobilized

1x cybrid light mech: immobilized

1x cybrid light mech: destroyed.

MC: Destroyed, pilot killed.

Fluffie: yet more scratches on your paint, you should really do something about that

Hewitt: minor damages to your left leg on top of your previous scratches, perhaps dancing on some tanks would be nice

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

ragana: as it is right now, there is no room for upgrades on non-mechs, so all armor is standard unless i tell you can add armor plating (obviously that would reduce speed and maneuverability).

all: After some carefull considerations, i've decided to give all you non-mech pilots a break and allow you to install standard deflector shields on your vehicles, this does however reduce your speed by a small margin which i have yet to work out.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

Fluffie looks at the tanks. His Mech's head does the same, but only in a much, much more menacing way. Still not using the damaged arm of the Mech, Fluffie quickly turns one tank into a grated piece of cheese, before using the Jets on his Jumper to, well, jump. Smiling, he rattles some more tanks from above, before using the Jets again to send him crashing down on a tank, flattening it to a ... flattened ... tank.

Spraying around more bullets - keeping an eye on his heatsinks - he swings one of the Mech's legs around, kicking a tank real badly.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

ooc:

*With all enemy mechs now neutralised the remainder of the mission should prove to be no problem. Hewitt considers the unnecessary losses - loss is always unnecessary but never unavoidable.

Hewitt was mildly surprised to find himself back out side and now under the full attention of enemy tanks. He then conceded that his wild plunge through a brick wall must've hit something structural and that part of the building must've collapsed around him as he had been focused on the defender mech.

However, none of this was important right now... shifting the throttle into the halfway position, Hewitt's mech strides casually away from the pile of debris and angles in on the annoying gnat-like vehicles now pesting his 30-ton Jumper. Twin beams from his MLC's instantly let's one enemy tank know his irritation.*

"God damn bugs... heh."

*Not far away Hewitt spots the other remaining mech warrior having fun with the small rolling tin cans, not only filling them with holes but actually jumping and kicking them as well. Hewitt grins.

That looks kinda cool...

*Immediately he turns his mech straight into the tattered pack of remaining light tanks and joins the foray. Firing at random with his GG's, 20mms and SRM's in order to 'soften up' the targets first, Hewitt then proceeds to 'dance' .

Any outside observer with just the tinest imagination watching this new performance would most likely consider it to greatly resemble the world reknown "Ant Dance", made popular by bored five year olds everywhere...

...only this was a 30-ton mech and those tiny things scurrying about frantically are tanks not ants.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

Fluffie/hewitt: You quickly finish off the remaining tanks and infantry and within seconds you notice several dropships approaching, your scanners identify the 2 dropships that originally dopped you, along with the 1 that dropped MC as well as several dropships that are loaded with tanks and infantry and apparently repair vehicles to fix the damaged base up and use it as an outpost. Within a minute you're loaded up on your dropships and heading back to the mothership along with a decent amount of previously cybrid equipment.
When you arrive you're told that they uncovered some kind of Database computer and where able to translate some of what it said.

all: you're now all at tech level 2, hewitt and fluffie have risen in rank to rank 2

next mission: The next mission will be a little less straight forward, there are several large cybrid bases on the planet, we will start by taking out a primary sensor post, we have yet to go noticed as it is and if we disable that sensor post we'll be able to remain out of range of any counter-attacks and if we do it fast enough, we'll have several days before the cybrids realise there is something wrong, hopefully that's long enough to take out their main bases.
Since stealth of the essence and defenses are expected to be minimal, there are no mechs going on this mission and you'll be joined by an ECM equipped dropship. Protect that dropship at all costs, if it's destroyed the cybrids will know what's going and we'll have a lot larger problem.

supplies: all suplies are availble in large amounts and all systems (tech 1 and 2) can be used freely

Buzzard Bomber

Weaponry:
Left Wing: 120mm Auto-Cannon (500 rounds)
Right Wing: 120mm Auto-Cannon (500 rounds)
Bottom: Twin Hammer Missile Launcher* (24 missiles)
Nose: 20mm Machine-Gun (25,000 rounds)

* Computer and Sensor systems configured to calculate and assign times to detonate (almost precisely) on impact.

Shields:
Standard Deflector Shields

Armor:
(Bottom/Left Wing/Right Wing/Front/Aft) 25/15/15/10/15

Speed:
(Shield Generator Margin Not Yet Applied)
775 mph Cruise, Mach 1.2 Max, 800 mph Combat, 250 mph Stall

//

Fluffie quickly goes through the "Flying: In Ten Simple Steps" manual. After that, he asks the weapon's mechanic if the Hammer Missiles can be set to detonate on impact, instead of after a certain time.

If that doesn't work, Fluffie starts confiruging one of his onboard computers to quickly calculate and assign the time to target on the Hammers.

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

ASME: approved.

Fluffie: cruise speed drops to 775mph and max to mach 1.2 with the shield generator installed. Hammers can't be set to detonate on impact (there is only a timer-detonator on those things) however your computer trick works (for as long as the computer and the sensors are in good condition, if either fails or becomes slightly damaged, you'll have to set timers manually) May i also note your utter reliance on ammo based weapons, once that ammo runs out you'll be flying a large target

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

hewitt: approved. No extra ammo for non-mechs. and the morphing wing design features 'smart' metals that can change their shape, thus it's not anything like F14s which have a fixed swing-wing that has 2 settings in which it works properly, the wing can become long and thing sideways to decrease the stall speed, or go extremely swept back to increase max speed. The limits on this design are set assuming you're using the standard settings but it's quite easy (and risky) to change that and improve those features, aircraft like this are in design right now (but air resistance heating up the wing is a major problem IRL)

seraphim: your speed drops to 120mph for equipping that shield, accepted
Ragana: accepted, no further comment.

all: mission will start first thing tomorrow morning, that gives late comers a little over 14 hours to post their vehicles, late entries in this mission will be impossible so make sure you have a vehicle in time

7 people... enough for two force teams.... that is a lot, as i remember while playing MechCommander Gold you could only have a limit of twelve mechs going on a mission... and there was a weight limit... not that that stoped me getting a few Atlas' onto the planet surface at any one time....

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

I played MC2, cool game

still play it now and then

think me and Sera should drive to the other side of the base and attack them from the back while you guys keep em buisy? or since we got most armor we draw attention to back of base and you guys attack front?

a good planning is half the work

and I think one should stay near the dropship?? ifi t gets destroyed we appear to be toast
what about it just flies away flappa?

://://://:

*Ragana enters the base... He looks around and finds Seraph, packing his bags, including some purple underwear with teddybears on it*

*Yo Sera* Ragana sayz, I'm gonna check out my new tank *
Sera: 'whats your bay?'
*04* Ragana sayz, they gave me a spot amongst the elites
Sera: 'congrats mate!'
*Aite im off bro, cya later* Ragana sayz
Sera: 'cya in the dropship, stay outta trouble'
*you know me big daddy!*
Sera: 'thats what I mean'

*hmpf!!* Raggy is mad

*walking to his vehicle bay, Ragana realises someone put the wrong vehicle... It's a Hammer Medium mech, and not a Badger!!*
*Ragana walks around the entire base asking around, only to realise that 04 was a 94*
*Ragana slaps himself, bumps his head on the wall, goes KO, and is carried to the medical appartment where he is treated from a minor headache, the doctor reminds him that he still has to work on his anger management and that she thinks hes cute but shouldnt pilot a tank just yet, Ragana ignores her and walks on to find his bay: #917, where he loadz up his tank, and polishes it, but he's too slow
I mean
omg
man
hes late
for the fricking dropship
Sera thru base speakerz: 'SLOW **** WAKE UP AND COME HERE WITH YOUR TANK'
*oopz* sayz ragana at arrival*
*Ready to go sir!!*

ooc - part of the story, call it an intro for my character

Re: mech wars, the rise of man

asme: don't worry about weight, i'll do the worrying for you. at the moment there are 8 dropships availble, each can carry 1 mech or 4 tanks, aerospace fighters can just fly over to their target and use a pre-attached heatshield to enter the atmosphere safely. Battlesuits are either fitted in dropships (4 to a dropship) or dropped in droppods for rapid insertion. Because each dropship only carries 1 mech, weight isn't a problem and a force of 8 assault mechs is currently deployable, if it wasn't for the fact there aren't any assault mechs availble.

ragana: please don't double, wait, triple post, just edit your post and fit it all in there, as for the ECM dropship, it has to stay close to you guys to keep you invisible to the enemy sensors, it also has to stay in the air because these things aren't all to good at landing (they use a lot of fuel doing that and take-off), in addition if it lands, there'd be almost no range on the ECM. The people in fighters will have to protect the ECM dropship if it is to remain intact. Oh and just on a second note, you're on a huge spaceship, there are about 28 mech bays, 80 vehicle bays and 40 aerospace fighter bays (battlesuits are stored in vehicle bays), so the highest possible number would be 240 (2 meaning aerospace fighter, 40 being the number of the bay)
