scanning gal mates
Sorry if I missed this somewhere, ..... but gal mates can scan your planet no matter how many distorters you have??? So even if they are in an enemy alliance they can scan you? so there is no point in building distorters?

Re: scanning gal mates
bp = Buddy Pack or Blood Pressure. Context such as the telly shows Grey's Anatomy, House, and The Surgeon bp is likely to be blood pressure. For Planetarion, it means Buddy Pack (ie, its the 5 mates who will land all in the same galaxy together after the universal shuffle at tick 36).

It all comes down to trusting your gal mates.

To clarify; your galaxymates can scan you with everything except Fleet Analysis scans (unless you are sending a fleet to them). This shouldnt change much at all, as regardless of how many Jammers you have it is almost certain that someone out there will be able to scan you.
This is discussed further Here, Here, and Here.

Actually, it's quite a large change. If a member of an enemy alliance is in your galaxy, they can scan you with 1 amp and get through despite how many distorters you have. So, yes, distorters are pointless now because a newbie planet in your galaxy, or any planet in your galaxy can now sell you out to an opposing alliance (to yours) for giving them a planetary NAP if you scan for them. Though I do think that structure-killers being off-roiding class is a *bit* of a counter balance (with the exception of Zik, since they can use the CR/BS combo). But all in all, distorters are now more useless, Planetary NAPs in exchage for scans is now a good meta-game strategy, and expierenced players/people playing to be top being paranoid of galaxy security now will play a larger roles in exiles.
It's not regardless. For instance, people who used to be distorter whores with 146 distorters used to be able to be scanned by only dedicated scanners who had built up many, many amps & finding one of these scanners *and* having him online to do a jgp would make distorters a very useful strategy. Now, in addition to the perhaps 20 people who could previously scan you thoughout the universe, that number would be multiplied by alliance mates--who at least you can trust--but also by galaxy randoms, spies, and people who can be bought, bribed, or blackmail to scan within galaxies.

Re: scanning gal mates
On the other hand, as far as I'm concerned the best use of distorters is to stop fleet scans by targets. This has not changed.

That's largely what i was refering to. Personally, i consider Jammers as totally an offensive tool designed to increase the likelihood of success in attack (particularly for Terran and Ziks). As a defensive tool, the huge majority of Jammer-wh0res can be scanned by most alliance scanners so its not as useful as in attack, where only your target can Fleet scan you.
That's what i was getting to - in my view it changes nothing in the defensive scenario as an unsavoury galmate wont need to JGP you; a paste of the galaxy status will suffice, they wont need to planet/unit you; that's already available through alliance scanners, they arent able to Fleet scan you; unless you send a fleet to them to scan, and so in all those regards, the change isnt going to have too much of an impact on how people play.
Jammers are an offensive tool, not a defensive one. Any benefits from having Jammers in defence should be considered a bonus free of charge, imo.

So we can say a Xan who has many distorters is a complete idiot. Doing surface scan on Xan peeps and makin a universal IQ test could be a hobby for bored guys.
