Im planning on going over to the States this coming summer and I heard somewhere that you need a new form of Passport to get in to the States. Im also filling in my passport form at the moment but I dont want to pay <insert amount of money for a passport> and then find out its not the right one to get in there.

Just fly into mexico and cross over the border. Assuming you're white those daft border patrols probably won't stop you.

You need a WHAT? I've just applied to get my passport renewal so I'd better not get the wrong one as I'm also going to the States in the Summer! My dreams of shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch are over ;(

You dont need one yet. (didnt up til this summer anyway)

They take a fingerprint scan when you get to immigration of your left and right index fingers. A standard UK passport still works.

however within the next few years they will require biometric ones. I believe 2009 is the date set.

My GF went to America in September and I think she needed to have a newer type passport with a holographic photograph. I think you will get this as standard now on all new passports, its not something you have to request, but call the local passport office and check.

the hologram has been aroudn for years
he doesnt mean the hologram one he means a new biometric one with an iris scan and the like.

The biometric passports they're making are just facial recognition (not iris scans).

The biometric passports start getting issued some time in December and the price goes up again in January (by £15).

If you have the barcode number thingy at the bottom of the details page of your current passport then you're fine for getting into Yank land atm Smudge.

You'll meet my father. He works for the department of Homeland Security on the Nogales border crossing. They're quite the professionals.

what if we did that, would we actually meet ur father, what would the chances of meeting him and not just some random guy who works there, and how would we know its him, we'd have to ask him "are you s|k's father" and he'd be like wtf, and he'd probably think it was some KGB code or something and we'd be sent to some top secert CIA jail never to be heard for again, and it would be all ur fault
