Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
Should we change the time limit from 1 year registration to 6months....
Vote yay or nay and it will be so.

May as well reduce it, I doubt it will do any harm.

Just make sure people posting their wanking faces (such as Belgy) are not allowed to.

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
Six months is probably sufficient. Is there a minimum post count requirement?

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
I assume the time limit is there not to form a group of elitist avatar holders (2,000 odd clearly isn't elitist!) but it is to make sure they are not immature/descructive posters who are going to put illegal pictures as their avatar. So six months in this respect is plenty, three months would even be sufficient I'd say.
Having said this, I did actually vote no just to piss 1-X off

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
I chose my name for a really random reason and really resent being related to peaches...
In fact, peaches disgust me, the way they look and taste.
So here I am, left in this tricky situation, in limbo, trying to decide what avatar suits me!

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
leshy has copyright on that anyway
seriously, you were right when you said 6 months was enough to guard against idiots signing up just to make mischief. There is no exclusivity when almost everyone has them, so what reason does that possibly leave to say no?
Goodnight.

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
Why are you awake at this hour anyway?
Personally I am trying to get rid of my stupid sleeping pattern of 4am->2pm by staying up all night. Using my time well though by designing a website which I am being paid to do.

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
I have messed up sleep patterns too. However, I'm not doing anything constructive with my time (watching telly, playing with avatars and updating the prediction league)
I've tried that 'staying up all night to return to normal' before and it makes you feel like shit. Better to be forced to get up after 4 hours and make it through a day like that...

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
Yeah, but once I get into bed I will not get out... Just had my first cup of coffee.
Yeah, I've stayed awake through the night a few times, always fealt like shit for the whole day... oh well.
I am also currently on a diet so am pretty much starving myself as well.
Oh, and I am going to Wales tomorrow. Can life get any better?

That bit 'doesn't work'.
Anyway, I'm disappointed. I came into this thread expecting to find the news that JJ was going to gradually shrink everyones avatars until they were 1x1.

6 Months is fine. An idiot putting up a stupid avatar every six months is hardly that much to worry about.

I voted yes, although I suspect a lot of people that have made an account within the last year had previously been banned for extreme faggotry.

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
6 months is good. If someone's enough of a faggot to create some sort of gimmick account with an abusive avatar after waiting 6 months they're enough of a faggot to wait a year.

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
isn't it possible to go through the database deleting all the 'sleeper' accounts... ie those inactive for 6 months that have tiny postcounts, as it will be these that cretins will be using for tubgirl etc
and the 39 nays, you're all scum
there are ppl with like 50 posts in three year old accounts when I've got two bastard thousand <<< this is indicative of growing resentment btw. I'm off to make a protest avatar for my nov 2000 account

I'd say yes. If people can be trusted with them at present, then there's no reason why we shouldn't see if people registred for six months can also be trusted.

At one point i got sick of Shai and Ghosteh and so went through a load of those type of accounts to try and fish out which ones were sleeping Shai accounts. The ones with Australian email addresses or familiar IPs got deleted but the rest stayed because its a bit harsh to ban someone who might come back just because they have been a bit inactive.

How about 6 months and 1000 posts rather than 6 months or 1000 posts?

Re: Should the Avatars be reduced in time?
not many will make 1k in 6 months... only myself and evergreen spring to mind, but the main problem seems to be that the 'promoting by postcount option' is broken
the file sizes seem rather generous too... that scrolling marquee has 200 frames
