IRC - can't connect

From I installed my network ethernet card, I cannot connect to IRC.

Why? and how can I fix it?

nope I was on IRC like 10mins before I installed the card then I tried to go on an hour after I installed it and I couldn't and still can't

Is it because I changed IP and DNS data for the LAN thing

if you changed your ip to one who doesn't work you're not likely to get anywhere.. not just irc. if it's only irc... try another server.. check your firewall if you're blocking 6667-7000

What error is mirc returning?

and have you tried uninstalling the ethernet card to see if u can connect? have you got any firewalls up disabling the ports?

my 1st q. should have been down on common sense

and if you're on dial-up then the ip config will affect the lan connection and not your dial-up thing so ...
