Some of you in #forums will know that I'm giving online poker a go, it's been going alright.
I sat down at a NL table tonight and got dealt K-Q first hand, was fairly pleased with that so did a nice moderate bet, had a few callers so was looking comfortable.
The flop comes 9-J-10:
flopped a straight, first hand. Awesome. Make a moderate bet again, a bit more than the previous one. A couple of folds but a couple of callers, seems alright to me.
The turn's a 6, there's no flush opportunities looking likely so this feels like a fairly sure thing. Doesn't it? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to actually playing, but I'm not that dumb. I make a fairly big bet and get called by two people. Lovely, should be tripling my chip stack any minute now once I go all-in on the river.
The river's a 10. I was vaguely amused by the board pairing, but it's out of my hand now. I hadn't had a chance to read anyone, no idea what anyone else had since I was too busy going OMG STRAIGHT STRAIGHT STRAIGHT. I get raised all-in, but guess at someone holding two-pair. I'm not folding now.
So, we go and turn the cards over. He turns over 10-6, the ships shuffle off towards his stack and my gathered housemates piss themselves laughing.
A FULL. ****ING. HOUSE.
