[UK GOV] This country is getting paranoid
Blunkett is planning to bring in new Anti Terror laws which you can put in suspects into jail without any evidence. Trial by no jury and phone taps are some of the things included in a new bill.

Re: [UK GOV] This country is getting paranoid
I hadn't noticed
it's not a new law - it passed quite soon after 11/09/01.
One of my parents friends works for an asylum centre and one guy she was looking after was picked up by the police with no warning, taken from Nottingham to Doncaster prison, kept there for a week and then let go. This had caused him to miss meetings with his mentor which meant he was subsequently deported.
He couldn't tell anyone where he was because he didn't know the phone number of anyone to contact and the police wouldn't allow him to use a phone book. He was released in Doncaster with no money and no idea where he was or how he was going to get back to Nottingham to tell anyone.
The laws are Draconian and the sooner they are challeneged in the High Court the better.

Re: [UK GOV] This country is getting paranoid
Is that what they said? Parents ordered theres in August, after a series of cock ups comparable to a round start for a PA Clone eventually got finished. Last weekend.
Moral of the story - dont trust zenith windows!

Someone's read another chapter of 1984 then.
Why don't we just get Saddam to run the country?

His ID card proposal will come into action from 2007 too, what a wonderfully free and secure society we'll have in 10 years time...

Re: [UK GOV] This country is getting paranoid
I heard a rather disturbing news report this morning claiming that Blunket is planning "an FBI style force for the UK".
Seeing as I thought that remit was already covered by Scotland Yard, and to some extent local CID, just what does the raving loonatic have in mind now?
