recently someone used a fake $318 bill at a Burger King, and got change. The bill had a picture of dubya on the front, amongst other humorous stuff.

Anyway, the guy later got caught, but couldn't be charged with counterfeiting because it was too obviously fake. I'm sure that precedent will save this woman's butt too.

"The cashier immediately noticed the fake" smells like bullshit to me too. More likely she took the bill, but didn't have change for a million in her drawer so she called her manager. What with Americans being stupid etc.

This reminds me of the old joke about the counterfeiter who decides to make $18 bills. His partner is skeptical that anyone would be stupid enough to accept them, but the counterfeiter assures him that he knows of a remote hillbilly area where the residents are so dumb they'll take anything.

With a stack of freshly-printed $18 bills, the counterfeiter drives his partner to this remote area and upon encountering the first country store, he sends his partner inside with a bill to get change. After a minute, his partner emerges with the $18 bill, looking confused.
