Most of the world says football. Im still confused how Americans can call American Football 'football' seeing as they hardly use their feet :/

sack Sven - look what a passionless, gutless, dull event England friendlies have become.
Get Stuart Pearce in.

lol- stuart pearce.
it was a friendly and sven was just trying stuff out,
if it'd been a qualifying match I would've been annoyed.
But it wasn't.

What? All they do is run? If this isn't using their feet, i don't know what is.

"Foot ball" implies some foot<->ball interaction.

Re: [FOCKIN' FOOTY]Ireland 1 - Portugal 0
People used to enjoy watching England and were up for most games and would certainly be up for a game against Holland. Sven's ruined people's enthusiasm for England - I'm eternally hoping for England to get stuffed so we can get the coont out - he's been making England crap to watch for quite some time and made friendlies an entirely pointless activity, so ship him out. Couldn't give a toss about his record when he's made England so unbearable to watch.
Empty seats and no noise at an England game what an embarrassment FFS.
England have always been at their best with motivation and guts, rather than the tactical stuff we are with at the moment. Don't know any Englishman who wouldn't be motivated with psycho in charge.

Yes, you would think so, but iirc, the reason they originally called it "football" was because they were on foot, rather than horses.

I was pointing out the floor in your point which did not include the mention of any other sport. Besides which, they all have their own names, so no i wouldn't.

Re: [FOCKIN' FOOTY]Ireland 1 - Portugal 0
I was out so I didn't see the game, but apparently Andy Johnson came on at right wing for half an hour. Presumably Sven will use this as an excuse to maintain the status quo, as he probably underperformed.

Re: [FOCKIN' FOOTY]Ireland 1 - Portugal 0
Friendlies are a joke. England are terrible at them because nobody cares and Ireland are terrible at them because we care too much and reduce teams to our appalling standard of football. I will always remember that 0-0 draw with brazil we played out and clapped ourselves on the backs afterwards for putting in a good defensive performance.
PS They showed the highlights of andy johnson's and stewart downing's debuts on sky sports news the next day and I must say I've never been more disgusted in my life.

I got the impression he was using the friendly to practice on 4-3-3 play.
To be honest, Marco van Basten is using the friendlies to play everyone and their mother in the national squad as well, three out of our four defenders in the England game had a total of 5 caps together, out of which one was a 3 minute sub-in by Mathijsen, and Yildirim made his debut.
You should see the commotion around every national game over here - Van Basten is constantly selecting fairly mediocre and average players from random teams in the Dutch League, so around every game you have people questioning his sanity. Still, so far his tactic hasn't failed, so as long as it keeps working he can experiment and build all he wants where I'm concerned.
I presume Eriksson will have a similar long-term goal, although I am somewhat at a loss why he subbed in strikers and had them play on the midfield sides.

He had a look at Chelsea's formation and thought 'wow that works well' then he decided to randomly put people in those positions, which at the same time allowed him to play Beckham because he doesnt have the balls to drop him.
One day he might realise that all we need is a left winger on the lef wing, a right winger on the right wing and a couple of strikers that play well together and can feed off good crosses.

Re: [FOCKIN' FOOTY]Ireland 1 - Portugal 0
at the moment i would go for
Robinson
G Neville Ferdinand Terry Cole
Wright-Phillips Dave Gerrard Downing
Defoe Roon
We'll be eternally playing 4-4-2, as half the England squad are too thick to play with anything else. I kept Dave in as I doubt any manager would drop him, so we're stuck with the lad.

Oh, I wondered who Dave was!
You realise there is no Lampard in your side?

Well, all I can say is that everyone is doing their best as they want to play. Few years back there was a core and every now and then there was a new face withing the squad. What he is doing atm is a nice tactic to and test several players, keep the players motivated, and focus on different tactics.

Thats just the Dutch media style of getting viewers and readers. Personally I dont like watching the sportprograms anymore, just because they complain way to much about useless things. Let them play, and prove that what they do they are doing it in the best way possible. If it didnt work, flame him afterwards.
