the "inability to post" problem
I haven't been able to post using my usual account for days now...
I see other people have complained about it (though it's puzzling how they can post messages saying they can't post messages)
does anyone know what the problem is?
why isn't some technie-knowall fixing it right now?

It's tradition to blame Karmulian whenever this kind of a situation arises.

On the off chance that this post actually makes it through, I'd just like to mention that I've had about a half-dozen lengthy replies disappear into the ether in past few days. Although this is mildly annoying for me, those of you whom I was about to destroy utterly with my searing logic may rejoice in your--hopefully temporary--reprieves. :/

I always wondered where those posts go to :(
PS Kind of annoyed myself that I can't reply to davinbrahm (something shouts gimmick to me heh). I suppose if you have a vital reply you could find a mod after creating a new thread for the reply and merge it in.

I've gotten into the habit of copying lengthy replies I 'try' to post before clicking 'submit reply':ninjaa:

I'm putting my money on a problem with email notification.
Try turning that off and see if it goes away.

I tried to post
"You cannot actually be Davin Brahm. He is dead."
five times and none would go through. All of my other posts have gone through.

I suspect the posts will suddenly show up if it is an email problem.
Something with the server and sendmail mail() maybe ...

Yes!! Thankyou! I tried this out on the programming forum, and it seems to be exactly this.
The email notification actually gets sent oddly enough.

I guessed the server must be getting hung trying to send to one of the emails.
You could try sending emails from the forum's ip /address?
not sure
to the email notification list and seeing which one isn't working.
I wouldn't be suprised if it's an AOL either.
Or someone whose blocked an ip for spamming and it's got mixed up with these forums....

I do that too, but the current problem doesn't seem amenable to just rehitting the 'submit reply' button; plus I'm on several different computers during the day. :/

My problem the other day was when i copied and pasted a post i'd written in Word, it wouldn't accept. it just kept giving me a remote error connection problem.
However, if i typed the reply straight into the thread it was ok.

I had this problem too the other day, I was just inable to type correctly, but I think it was because I was slightly intoxicated.
