Star Wars: Clones and Stormtroopers
Can anyone tell me or not whether the clones in Episode 2 are the same as the Stormtroopers seen in the later episodes?

If you see the commented version on the DVD you'll hear Lucas say that the clone troopers will become the stormtroopers eventually.
And on ep. II you can see jango fett hitting his head on the doorway as does the famous stormtrooper on the death star.

If you listen to storm troopers I think they have different voices, clones would all sound the same wouldn't they?

Evidence for the Storm Troopers being clones would be Princess Leia's query to Luke regarding his height.

Evidence? And of course, any EU material = worth nothing as Lucas himself said that "The movies are the original story"

He was smaller than all troopers as they all have the same height and weight... hmmm...
They are clones, the stormtrooper armor is a new version of the clone armor, lighter and bulkier...

The second bit.
(Although it would not surprise me if they used the same actor to do all the "Speaking Trooper #2" type roles in IV-VI as it would have been cheaper).

On the original triology one of the stormtroopers hits his head on a doorway.
On episode II they reproduced the same thing when Jango Fett gets aboard his ship, the Slave I, making him bump his head on the doorway... The commented scene has the visual effects guy saying that it was a 'genetic trait that got carried on into the clones and later the stormtroopers'
So stormtropers are clones.

They hired two guys to do the effects and it was accomplished by getting one on a building across the street with a walkie-talkie and recording on both ends. That way all stormtroopers sounded like they used some sort of speaker on their helmets

Only if they all descend from the same stock.
The first group of Clones as seen in ep II are all from 1 source (Jango) but there is no reason why subsequent 'plantings' couldnt be from mutiple sources (ie one donor with really big ears to clone all radio operators from etc )

The majority of Stormtroopers are clones however they do take in some recruits as well, there was a training academy on Cardia ? Something like that.

that was for ranked positions...
Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, pilots, etc are all 'dispensable' troopers... Tie fighters have no shields, their armor stinks, but they have numerical superiority.
As for the commanders and such, a normal humam with full fear and greed will be more of a manipulative being to the emperor...

Hitting your head on a doorway is a sign of clumsyness. Clumsyness is caused by co-ordination issues such as hand/eye co-ordination ect. How good your co-ordination is is something thats often passed down in your genetic makeup (hence why sportsmen/women who require good co-ordination to excel at their sport often produce offspring who also excel at sports and why people poor at sports often produce offspring who are also poor at sport)

Clumsiness is probably due to issues with things such as hand-eye co-ordination, but this is not determined purely through genetic makeup. The more you perform tasks requiring hand-eye co-ordination, the better you get at it. Google for studies. The same is true of other CNS processes such as recall and spacial processing.
The only reason genetics would play a role is where a congenital defect prevented proper nervous development, and this will be expressed in only the extreme minority of individuals.
Athletes tend to have athletic children because they bring them up in an environment that fosters sporting behaviour and a fitness ethos. People who have no interest in sport rarely tell their kids they have to do 50 push-ups before they get their cheerios in the morning.
If sporting ability was passed on purely in our DNA we would have athlete and soldier breeding programmes, and the world would be controlled by the Great Houses. And there'd be no such thing as gymn equipment.

Stormtroopers are not clones.
Clones were banned and all facilities destroyed after the clone wars. However, apparently all stormtroopers are carefully selected and "recruited" via brainwashing. So ST's are about as close to clones as possible without actually being them as they all have the same general physical capabilities and little or no personal identity anymore.

ofc genetics arent the sole reason becuase as with anything if you practice enough you can become good but no matter how hard your practice you need certain natural gifts as well as the dedication to spend time honing your skills to be truely great at a sport and these are things which you have your generics to thank.
As for your breeding programs comment, while we dont have it involving humans we do have it involving animals that are used in sport. The reason we dont have breeding programs for humans is simply its not ethical to do so

tbh i'd rather belive Lucas when he says they are Sandsnake. And remember we are talking about the Empire here, not exactly the most law abiding establishment

I haven't see the interview. I just looked in the star wars db and yeah, you're right.
Problem is that many sources prior to the new movies said they weren't (there was no official story other than "Clone wars happened; All clones banned, hunted, and destroyed) and I'm not that big of a star wars geek to keep up. (;

This may well be accurate for extremes or 'natural ability', but what reference does it have to bashing your head on a ****ing door?

But to be fair, Lucas changed his mind a lot, and also rewrote a lot of the story prior to the filming of EpI. :)

PS - Okay, breeding programmes was a bit of an exaggeration. But last time I checked we are more or less free to choose who we wish to breed with, and I can certainly see athletes breeding selectively if they believed that their offspring would be champions with no serious effort.

Hold on a sec - I just checked my original post on the subject of athletes and DNA and as it turns out you are now agreeing with me.
Well said Wakey.
