If you can code a crappy debate forum
Can you not make proprer

tags?
They seem to be used more and more recently, like the Harry Potter thread and the Matrix.
So how about it?

OH
GOD
NO
I can already see 300 threads dedicated to Nod & Jakiri with just that smiley.

vB tags don't work in thread titles
Also, what was actually done that was different with the debating forum?

Not for the thread title, but the reply section of the thread.
So all text between
and [/spolier] is transparent, and to read it you have to highlight the text, like you were going to copy and paste.

won't work very easily - as the text in all the styles is different, we have no way of making one generic transparent colour short of making all the styles have the same text which would be rather ****ty
this make sense?

black
ok it's not transparent like the SA but other forums have a black box over the text and the text in black too, so that you have to highlight to see the text
it would work

ok reasons behind not currently doing it
1) I cannot actually be arsed, as i don't technically work for the forums anymore - if JJ wishes to his choice
2) I don't see the friggin point, if it says spoiler in the title - JUST DON'T LOOK
3) Too busy working on Rnd10 forums(Vb3) - I may consider putting
on there but its something JJ and i will have to discuss first
PS- On a seperate note, yes these current forums will be wiped from the face of the earth to be replaced with a new set of forums running vb3
PPS - to starbucks, yup running vb3 on test server atm

I'm going to lose my Apr 2000 reg date.
This saddens me.
Although, given reports of fake reg dates previously, I guess I'll just head to i17 and buy Karm a pint or seventeen.

Integrated forums would be hilarious, fear the tumbleweed.
Also, if all the previous posts were deleted, Kura wouldnt have to do it manually this time, hoho

Flavius - that is being coded in
all current threads and users from these forums will be lost
and the forums will be linked to game accounts
BUT!! - that does not mean that people who don't play the game can't have accounts.. they still can.. its just that those that play the game will receive benefits

Before this goes too far can I point out a couple of things:
1) Until this was stickied for the purposes of bumping it was last posted in on 23rd June 2003
2) This thread is initially nothing to do with any new forums, passport or anything like that.
3) The Passport was lauched in late August - With 2 months lead time it is reasonable to expect certain things to change.
4) It was NOT announced anywhere on the PA Announcements section, nor in any forum-wide announcement that there would be any form of reservation system for nicknames. One old thread that mentions it does not constitute a guarantee.

That's beside the point; statements by officials are official statements.
You should have, when the situation changed, made updates to what people knew, instead of jumping on them 5 days before launch which is, in many cases, too late.

I don't see that as a problem.
Our names should have been reserved, so whoever has them at the moment should never have got them in the first place, and so changing them to "Marilyn Manson 2", "W 2", "Proteus 2", etc, isn't particularly unfair.

That's the thing you see, the forums are seperate from the portal in the sense of who runs them. You can't just do a solution.

Works for TSA.
Or it did before I gutted the code and replaced it with new stuff - two way forum integration is coming back though.
However, the difference here is that I make sensible policy decisions based on the factors involved, including the requirements of the users and the suitability and applicability of the technology. I don't see any evidence of that here.
You don't force your customers to reshape their expectations just so they meet your artificial requirements - they'll just go elsewhere.
Products and services are supposed to provide something people want or need, not just 'exist' despite the nuisance of customers.

If they are completely separate and run by completely different people, whose brilliant idea was it to amalgamate the accounts?
