[football] a question
is there any difference at all between a centre-back and a centre-half? I've always wondered.

Re: [football] a question
Nobody really calls it a centre half anymore.
edit: I meant centre back. Everybody calls it a centre half.

I call them centre backs. Makes more sense to have right, left and centre backs.

No, it's just an indicator as to how old a football fan is.

Yeah but you have left wing, right wing, and centre midfield.

I tend to think of right/left midfield and right/left wing being slightly different positions. A right winger is further forward, more like an old outside left/right.

Re: [football] a question
I always assumed that in any team the player who stayed back during a corner was a centre back and the one who elected to try for the heada was the centre half.

Normally, it's the left and right backs who stay around the half-way line when a corner kick is taken.

Re: [football] a question
Why not give one handguns and the other large daggers that way you could tell them apart at a glance and also provide them some protection against opposition fans?
