Im just wondering why we changed a superb portal, well for, a mediocre one, I know that changing portals / spash pages etc are part of a new round, but changing them to something that is not as good is well a bit stupid is it not?
We are trying to get more people to play, not scare them away.

The new portal has a much better graphical design, although it seems the layout of the content itself is somewhat... sub-par.

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
A hell of a lot of time and effort goes into revamping the portal every round. Seeing as the portal is hardly ever used by players in my experience, that time and effort would be better spent on something else imnsho.

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
The aim isn't to redesign the portal each round, it's just that they come up with one they think is great, implement it, then it turns out everyone else thinks it's shit. And the cycle starts again.
The basic idea of having a PA Central HQ Site Portal Passport System Ultra Plus Pro is good, it's just never been executed with any degree of usefulness.

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
and what ever happened to the toolkit
at least some useful links on the portal would be good for the new players

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
Seeing as how this portal actually has some form of admin section so we can control it, it's a definate bonus
It's also pretty much "passport ready" although I do need to contact Karm about the specifics.
Things you may have noticed already are the reinstatement of the announcements "forum", in that when we post an announcement it is copied automatically.
There is content on there - and quite a few links should appear by the end of this week (I've spent most of it at work so not had time to finish some of it -- apologies)

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
In the time you have taken to create this passport system I have created an easily installation package which will integrate any system seaminglessly with vbulletin with a quick line of code into each page.
Oh, and unlike the newsletter Karm created it is not vunerable to SQL injection

Leshy I agree there. When I saw Karm and the Passport integrated into it, it was a LOT better.
The actual site gfx and construction isn't too bad, just the splash page which needs work for next round.

Re: http://passport.planetarion.com/
The new portal 'sucks ass'. There's a thread somewhere else where I explain why I think this to be so.
A portal redesign doesn't change the fact that the content of it is essentially 'bollocks'.
