The university radio station are running this thing where they play a new song every day, and it relates to a "theme".

The songs so far are...

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - UNDER THE BRIDGE
2. Don Mclean - AMERICAN PIE
3. A-Ha - TAKE ON ME
4. Tin Tin Out feat. Emma Bunton - WHAT I AM

The link could be anything, relating to the artist, song, title or lyrics.

I think it's something to do with covers (All Saints covered Under the Bridge, Madonna covered American Pie, a few bands have covered Take on Me, but Edie Brickell originally did What I Am) but from there I'm stuck

actually, the boring answer is that I just suspected it to be true, and remembered that www.everyhit.com was a good place to check. I don't think it's the answer to his quiz though.

I was live on the uni radio today with my answer.

I said it was "things you consume" (as the other one was milkshake, so you can't eat it).

It wasn't right though

So we have:

It seems too much of a coincidence that 7 of those 8 got to number 2.

Are you sure the first one wasn't 'by the way' and not 'under the bridge' 'cos then it would be all 8?

Clearly, the Emma Bunton one also had Tin Tin Out - ... TINS of food!!

Is it something like "All these songs got to #2 (assuming it was BTW not UTB) and were beaten by really bad songs" ?

Grrrrrrr.

I spoke to the guy last night on MSN. We aren't really friends, he's just on my list.

I asked if "Under The Bridge" should be "By the Way".

He said "No, why?"

I said "because all the others have reached #2, except for #1"

A long pause.

"Would you like to know a secret?"
"Sure"
"The website I got my information from appears to be incorrect for Under The Bridge"
"I see"

So, I re-entered.

Apparently there was "new competition" now though.

I didn't listen to the radio show. I know they haven't phoned me back though.

So because they ****ed it up, I didn't win. I'd checked the highest rank in the charts already on the first day, but saw that Under The Bridge was #1.

Stupid uni DJs.
