[rugby] 6 nations
so, who is going to win it this year then? Ireland didn't impress in their opening game. whereas England are doing well, so, do you think England can do it this year and actually win?

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
with the total kicking we have just given wales, i would say that we are certainly the team to beat

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
Haven't seen France this year yet so I'm with JC.
I don't think I've seen that many mistakes in one 6 nations game before.
Wales and England seemed to be dropping the ball, knocking on etc all over the place.
But England certainly impressed

Clearly you didn't watch the Italy Ireland game beforehand
I'd say france are the team to beat based on their performances during autumn and so on.

First time I've really watched rugby but England seemed to kick ass; they've got my vote

Ireland have no chance, it wouldn't surprise me too greatly if they even lost at home to Scotland (but most of my friends say that scotland will also win in the Millennium Stadium )
I felt it before thr tournament started and today cemented the view for me that it's going to be a French grand slam. England looked dominant today, and fully deserved a clear victory, but I'm not particularly pleased about Williams sin bin, Dallagio's try with the ref in the way and Dawson knocking it on for his.
France grand slam
england 4 wins
Ireland 3
Wales 2 (the game in Ireland is going to be absoloutely dire and I pretty much tossed a coin to decide the winner here)
Scotland 1 win
Italy wooden spoon

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
to be fair, the sin binning of the wales player was the easiest decision of the match for the ref, he was only about 2 meters away and it was blatant what he was doing (stopping the english guy from jumping)
also: i really cant see england losing this now, and if france dont pull themselves together i can see england getting the grand slam

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
England had a relatively easy time of it with Wales though (seeing as about half the welsh team wasn't in the game due to injuries/suspensions).
Not to say they didn't play well, but judging their total performance on that game isn't very accurate.
I agree - France will be the main competitors. Italy next week shouldn't be a problem.

You have got to be kidding. The lock Evans who got suspended in the same game ended up with a lighter ban yet his crime was far more cynical and probably deserved a much harsher ban. I think Henson though was harshly punished because of who he is, other players involved in similar incidents got off far lighter. The Leicester player was the one who jumped on Henson from behind before he elbowed him.

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
did you see the state of the guys nose after he broke it?
all kickers get lots of shit both on and off the ball, that at least part of the reason why wilkinson is injured so much (although he is injury prone also) you don't retaliate though, as retaliating will 99% of the time be seen by the cameras nowadays, and punished accordingly

Re: [rugby] 6 nations
Yeah but most kickers aren't jumped up from behind. He didn't know he was coming and to me (and the commentators) it didn't seem cynical as in him setting out to purposefully elbow him. More of just a natural reaction when someone charges into your back when you aren't near play. If he had connected with his little kick then I would have agreed but he never got charged for that
