Internet ads.
Does anyone actually ever take any notice of these, be they either pop-ups or no? I never do. I always consider them to be simply an obstruction between me and my destination.

I think the internet is one of the few places that communism might actually work.

Re: Internet ads.
Adblock and a set of flexible rules means that I haven't seen an ad for months.

Re: Internet ads.
ads? Are those the rectangular things you often find at the sides, top and bottom of websites? The blinky colourly things I never bother to look at perhaps?
And pop ups, the few that manage to get through my filter, disappear SOOO fast, they often don't even manage to load. Pop unders are a different story, but they don't normally bother me.
Really though, I'm still wondering why people are putting those ads up, other then the highly deceptive 1s (with a warning and the 'click ok to get blablabla or you computer will <insert bad thing here>) I'm guessing they hardly ever get clicked. And the deceptive 1s only get click by morons, like my sisters and my mom...

Re: Internet ads.
Most of the lesser beings take at the very minimum text ads hard to distinguish. People invest in ads for a reason, remember!

Re: Internet ads.
ads that are completely text are harder to recognise as ads, but anything that flashes in any way is simply 'dropped' somewhere between my eyes and my brains, either that or my browser is picking them out on purpose

Re: Internet ads.
I once saw (that means: actually noticed) and ad on a german computer and science news site. It was about a magazin (or just about special edition). The content being something with aerospace, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and all that stuff.
Since I knew the name of the magazine and it's "seriousness", I clicked the ad.
And came straight to a site where you could order it.
And, now, unbeliavable, it was SO easy to fill in the details and stuff, I just ordered it. 8 Euro.
I haven't looked at it since I got it, but I plan to.
With a CD full of nice Hubble pictures on it apparently.
Well, need some time to do it.

Re: Internet ads.
I'd imagine most people in charge of advertising budgets don't actually "get" the internet. Not properly at least.
Much like a lot of PR departments (who control indirectly a lot of web development in some organisations).

Re: Internet ads.
Unfortunatly the ones that do 'get' the internet are the skum that send spam and release browser hijacks.
